Hey! haven't been on here forever but wanted to read your birth story! I totally relate to your "just get her out" feelings while pushing! Iris was by far my most painful pushing. Good story...so glad everything went lovely for you...fast!....but good!

The caul part is beyond awesome. Your very own (soon to be) walking, talking folktale.

The caul picture seems to have been removed...

But what do you call that cozy-looking little knitted peapod she's tucked into in the photo on the top right on the last link? That's the neatest thing I've ever seen. She looks so comfortable in it.

Sorry I took the pic down-I had someone comment to me about privacy since it is graphic. If you wish to see it, I still have it and can send you another link.

That's just a knitted baby egg. I got the pattern on ravelry but she was too big for it (she's a big baby!). smile.gif I was actually done with it and going to give it away ffs on here. It's acrylic and best for a photo prop.

What an awesome and completely positive birth story! My son was born "in the caul" as well. The broke it once his head was out. It is said to be very good luck (an Irish superstition I believe). I am so happy for you, especially that you were able to let nature take its course when medical attention would seem necessary but really was not.

Also, isn't it funny how we all have that moment of "I can't possibly do this, how can I get out of this?" or at least that is how I felt. When mothers are in the hospital it is VERY important to have another person there to remind them what they really want and to stand up to those who are trying to offer them meds to cope. We all want a way out and sometimes the only way to get a natural birth is to do it at home, unless of course an emergency happens.

Way to go!

Thanks. innocent.gif I completely agree about having someone there to remind you. This time, for me, it was my little girls. They were my cheerleaders all the way and I wanted to show them that birth is natural, normal, and safe. I'm glad I succeeded. smile.gif Especially after 2 traumatic hospital births and a UC transfer pp.
