I will make this short and sweet....I delivered a beautiful baby boy on noverber 28, 2006 .......while giving birth to him i had alot of complications.....while i was pushing i needed up being cut so i wouldn't tear... my family was in the room and everytime i pushed my doctor would cut....i had a 3rd degree episiotomy closer to a 4th degree....my doctor told me that one of the things to watch for is stool in the vaginal area so i watched for that cause with everything that went wrong during my pregancy i was probably going to have that problem too ....so i ended up telling my doctor that i did have stool in the vaginal area.....she kept saying no i don't see anyway that it could be comming out.....she didn't doubt that it was happening she just couldn't find it....well needless to say she found it 3 months later.....(after giving birth to my son....a blood patch for and epidural gone wrong...and galbladder sugery) so she sent me to a specialist and he did surgery on me last monday ....i was sooo happy to be having it finally fixed but thurdsday i notice it was happening again....so i called that doctor back and he was like this is normal it sometimes happens...blah blah and the soonest day he could see me is this comming tuesday.....i would like to know if this has happen to anyone else or am i all alone....and maybe someone can give me some advice on what to do and talk to this new doctor about....i am doing everything that he tells me to do and not to do ....... PLEASE HELPPPP

Jenn

Oh honey. I'm sorry. That butcher who delivered my dd did a number on me too. You DON'T have to be cut- I had a third degree cut for a 6 lb baby. I had a nearly ten pound baby with a small tear (I demanded no cut, period).

I wsh I had some advice beyond smack the crap out of any Dr who lays that line on you again. You learned the hard way, too. Is it a fistula, then, I guess?

I'll pray for your healing- you may want to x-post in birth professionals if anyone knows anything.

I'm so sorry. I wish I had some great advice for you. I had a bad episiotomy with my 1st, only the problem was that he sewed me up too tight. "extra stitch for Dad, he said." So when I told him how painful it was at my checkup, I was lying on the table and he said," Kathleen, get me the scissors" and before I knew anything, he had cut me again! Still not as bad as yours, though. I also had an epidural gone bad for my 1st. I was wondering if it was just the epidural that was bad, or was the blood patch also bad? I refused the blood patch because they said there was potential for it to make the problem worse. I also couldn't stand the thought of going through the epidural procedure again.
Hugs, I hope this ends for you soon.

I am so sorry for you, Jen! I wish I had some advice...but only sympathy. That doc is an idiot! At least if she'd let you tear you would only tear as much as you needed to! I had a bad 3d degree tear w/ #1, and only the tiniest tear w/ #2....good luck on your healing...I know how painful that is.

I think you need to see a colorectal surgeon as soon as possible. It is certainly not normal to develop a fistula, although it happens sometimes after an episiotomy. A good surgeon can advise you on how and when it should be repaired. I would think the sooner the better.

For future reference, episiotomies don't prevent tearing. They tend to make it worse. I'm so sorry this happened.

Just read that you've already seen a specialist and had an unsuccessful repair-I assume this is a CR surgeon. I am concerned about the surgeon's lack of concern. I would insist on being seen again as quickly as possible, and if he doesn't seem to be taking the problem seriously, find one who does.
