Some of our more academically-inclined readers in the United States might like to prepare anti-circumcision abstracts, and possibly make a presentation at this summit:

Federal, state and local governments, businesses, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and other groups are using Healthy People 2020 in their strategic planning and to benchmark their efforts. Large scale national initiatives and a wide array of community programs are also using Healthy People 2020 to track progress and measure success. Examples of the national initiatives include: National Prevention Strategy, Let’s Move, the National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities, and the National HIV/AIDS Strategy, to name just a few.

Specific areas that may pose openings for anti-circumcision arguments could include:

The dangers to newly circumcised boys from healthcare-associated infections, hepatitis (which is not being adequately screened for in all donor blood sources) and the like ( http://www.foreskin-restoration.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7757 )

The risk of excessive bleeding puts baby boys at risk from central line infections, especially if they experience their first bleed event during circumcision due to undiagnosed haemophilia ( http://www.foreskin-restoration.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8078 )

The increased risk to baby boys from hospital- and community-acquired epidemic MRSA ( http://www.doctorsopposingcircumcision.org/DOC/mrsa.html )
