So, I'm not pregnant, but my friend is and I'm planning the blessing way for November. Any suggestions. I've never done it before. She gave one for me.
I've been to a few of these and had one of my own. We called it a mother blessing, but same thing I think. Depending on the mother's preference, you can have just other women present or women with their children. My DP was present at mine, along with everyone's children. He mostly helped with the children, though. LOL I think I prefer to have just the ladies in the future; it was a little chaotic but still meaningful. Some things that I've seen at Mother Blessings:
- Pampering the mother-to-be in ways that she is comfortable with, such as foot soak/massage, belly art (Henna, etc.).
- Having guests bring birth beads and string them together while saying blessings for the birth. These can be poems/birth affirmations/prayers or simply stating that you wish positive or peaceful energy, etc.
- Sending a candle home with each person to be lit when the mother goes into labor.
