I had a miscarriage on May 22, and a D&C five days later. I still have not had a period (8 weeks later) and have been experiencing cramping and tenderness in my lower abdomen on and off for the last  two weeks. I started taking at home LH test to see if I am ovulating, they were negative, then positive for a about 4 days, then negative in the morning, positive in the evening. It makes no sense. I have had a baby 2 years ago. I've tried to call my midwife and the nurse just called back saying it was normal not to worry. I have called again saying the pain is not going away but have gotten no return call. I am going to an acupuncturist but I just feel really lost and confused. Is this normal? When will my period return? Am I ovulating? Can you have a LH surge and not ovulate? Any insight you have is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage.  There can definitely be some hormonal fluctuations afterward, and what you are experiencing may be just that, may be ovulation, or may be something that needs a visit to your midwife.  I suggest you keep calling her and request an appointment, including an abdominal and pelvic exam.  Any abdominal pain should be assessed in a visit with a qualified medical practitioner.
