Dr. Bob,

My 3-month-old is exclusively breastfed.  Over the past few days she has developed her first diaper rash (we use cloth diapers).  Today she has had three bowel movements (the first since the rash) and the last one was mucousy and had green spots in it.  I tried to find an answer in The Baby Book and The Portable Pediatrician, but I could not find what I was looking for.  I'm wondering if this is normal, and what could the cause possibly be?  I haven't been eating anything different.  Thank you.

This happens to most babies.  may be a minor intestinal bug. may be nothing.  if you haven't eaten anything new, then there may be nothing to figure out here. if you took Antibiotics, it could be yeast. if the baby is fine, i'd do nothing for a few days.
