My orthodontist recommends a frenectomy and a fiberotomy for my daughter before she has her braces removed.  I have looked at a lot of articles, online and in dental and orthodontic journals, and am not convinced it will work, so am reluctant to put my daughter through unnecessary surgery.  Her front teeth were rotated more than 45 degrees before she had braces, however, and supposedly a fiberotomy will keep the fibers in her gums from pushing her teeth back to where they were.  Any information or suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know anything about these dental issues, so I can't give you an expert opinion on it.  I wish I could, but I don't like to guess at anything that I don't know about.
