Dear Dr Bob,  I am the person with the strong Chron's history. You mentioned to me to NOT give any vaccines esp after adolescence so how would I handle my child travelling abroad (what if my child turns out to be some adventurous traveler?!!)  and my child is also a picky eater. I admit to running after her with a spoon so she will eat to the dismay and disapproval of my husband and other family members.  I would rather she eat the bites that way than her never asking for food and loosing weight. She has been at the twentyfifth percentile siince her first Birthday (she was an extrememly chubby and big baby and BF for almost two years).   She is now just over 29 pounds. Any picky eater advice? She actually likes healthy foods and won't go near juice and other junk so maybe the other kids are just too big? lol   thanks

As for travel, I'd say the only important vaccine for an older child/teen or adult for certain types of travel would be polio vaccine, and I don't see that vaccine as an autoimmune risk.

YOu can watch or read my picky eater teleconference at this link:

Thanks very much for replying. I listened to your lecture on picky eaters and am going to try some of your tips for sure. I wonder: what amount of vitamin D do you recommend giving to a child of three?  400 mg? more?  I do currently give my picky eater a multivitamin liquid drops (sometimes with the 10mg of iron and sometimes the one without the iron as her last blood test was borderline low for iron-the number was just under the lowest normal range number) snd it has 400 mg of Vit D in this plus her milk had added vit D to it (granted I have to work it a lot to get her to drink a cup of milk- also still giving her whole milk as I feel she would not get enough fat otherwise-actually I think she needs more fat-) also, what is a good veggie type supplement for  a three year old? Since I have Chron's I take a green pill that has like 20 different kinds of veggie extracts in it- any kind of chewable for my picky eater? thanks so much.

I like about 1000 IU daily total of Vit D for that age.  I like Juice Plus chewables
