Dr Bob, I started giving my three year old an algal based DHA powder 100 mg daily and noticed that it doesnt say anythign about having EPA in it. Would this type of powder (brand is BrainStrong) contain EPA and should I be giving my child some different supplement that has EPA - thanks. I know you said EPA and DHA are important and I am confused. Thanks. Also, I know you don't believe in flouride supplementation. Is this the case even for a somewhat picky eater who drinks distilled water? Thanks again for everything,
As far as I know, we're not supposed to drink distilled water on an ongoing basis. My no flouride recommendation still stands. As for DHA and EPA, my understanding is that you do need both, so supplementing with both is better. BUT supplementing with just DHA, especially in kids, is certainly better than not supplementing a picker with Omega 3 oil.
