My 4 year old son has had 4 dtap's-2 from pediarix and 2 tripedia. we recently moved across the country and the only option i am finding for his last dtap is infanrix or daptacel. obviously of the two i'd go with daptacel. however, i am wondering if i should wait a year until i am back at his old dr where we used to live when we are visiting to get the last dtap so he can get another tripedia. how much does it matter if he switches brands? i actually like that the daptacel has less aluminum but am wondering if he'll tolerate it ok since he's never had it. is there any more risk of side effects with one brand over another? bottom line does he need to stay with the tripedia or is it ok to go with the daptacel?
thanks for your advice.
they've stopped making Tripedia. The only supply that's left is what a doctor has in stock. So, it will likely be gone by the time you can get it. I like Daptacel - it's what I use in my office. it's ok to switch brands. I don't know of any differences in side effects.
