Thursday, middle of the day he complained of burning with urination. The rest of the day was fine. Then same thing with yesterday and today. It's early still today but yesterday he had complained of intense burning with his morning pee and then the rest of the day was fine. His urine looks normal. He has no complaints of pain elsewhere. There is no redness or inflammation on the foreskin or glans. No fever. I called the doc but it's the weekend and so I was referred to a pager number for a different doctor that we've never met. I'm dreading him asking me to take him to the ER or something. What should I do? What should I expect the doctor will do? Will he just start antibiotics or will he need a sample and if a sample is needed first is that something he can call into a lab instead of having us go to the ER? I'm, of course, suspecting UTI but...now what?

hello.  Sorry I didn't get back to you on this in a timely manner.  I imagine you've contacted your regular doctor at this point. Testing the urine would be where to start.
