Hi Dr Sears! Are food allergies caused from having a leaky gut? My baby has 6 known food allergies, two of which are casein and yeast. The DTaP has a casein derivative in it and Hep B contains yeast protein. I want to avoid these but should I avoid them all if she has a leaky gut? I'm a little confused :) Any help you could give would be great! Thanks!

I think that this issue is too theoretical for me to give you an accurate answer. IF your child's stools are healthy, and there aren't any chronic GI issues, then I doubt there's a leaky gut. There isn't enough casein or yeast in those vaccines to make them contraindicated. But I would say that babies and young kids don't need Hep B vaccine, so you skip that one anyway
