Long time TTCers due in January!

This is a chat and support thread for those of us who are due in January 2012 after a long journey TTC.

MEMBERS:

chilichiki

EDD: January 31, 2012

Birth date guess: I don't know why, but I have a feeling this is going to be a Groundhog's Day Baby!

TTC for: just over 2 years

# of children: one very excited three and a half year old son

Boy/girl guess & actual: I have a feeling its a boy (twins-though thats just my crazy dreams) My husband and son say girl.

Next prenatal appt: June 9th can't come quick enough!

Belly pics: Not yet!!

Anything else: We were lucky enough to conceive our son with little to no effort. The pregnancy was very difficult. I was diagnosed with hyperemesis, lost 30+ lbs during pregnancy, and had a PICC line for the majority of the time. We waited until our little guy was a year and began trying again to no avail. After some back pains drove me to the doctor, I was soon diagnosed with a septated uterus and endometriosis. After many doctors visits, I had surgery to repair my lady parts as best as possible last November and we have been trying again ever since then. The next step was to try fertility treatments (next month as a matter of fact!), which I was sure was inevitable.

SweetBee: thanks for starting the thread!

I've been trying for over a year and had a miscarriage (blighted ovum) in March so it seems like such a long and exhausting journey so far. For some, I know that's short but every day is just drawn out when you're waiting to get pregnant, in my opinion. It's been the longest year+ of my life! I have my first ultrasound in two weeks. I have an incredibly amount of anxiety right now which I'm trying to deal with. It's really hard.

Krista, good luck at your first ultrasound! I have 2.5 weeks to wait for mine, and it seems like forever. Not nearly as long as waiting to get pregnant, though.
winky.gif
And I agree a year is a long time to wait, even though some have waited longer. I guess I feel like we longtime TTCers share a sense of camaraderie with one another. We are kind of in a different sort of place than those who got pregnant easily. Like we had different journeys to get here. (Though I'm very glad most people don't have to go through infertility because it stinks!) I hope that makes sense.

Any other ladies out there who tried for awhile? Emaya, I know you're in here somewhere!

I didn't have to try long this time, but it took over a year for my first. I have PCOS and it took a while to figure out what was going on. I understand the heartbreak of trying and the worry once it finally happens. Sticky vibes to everyone!!

#5 ·
thorn, I don't think anyone ever forgets the heartache of TTC a long time, even if the later ones come more easily.

How is everyone feeling?

#6 ·
Hi all: I'm personally struggling quite a bit. I think it's a double whammy if you've tried for awhile AND had a prior loss. It just makes everything feel so incredibly tenuous and like it could go at any moment. I know there's really no way around it and just "letting it go" because whatever be will be just doesn't work for my brain. It doesn't help that the hormones are playing with me too! I could kill people AND cry while doing it. Random.

Hope everyone else is doing a bit better than me.

Hi! It took us 3 years this time, after having no trouble the first time around! Though, we had a lot of months that we "tried" an a lot where we kind of took a break or didn't worry about it, especially after several months of getting our hopes up and then getting my period. My little guy just turned 5, which is hard to believe. I'm a little nervous since I had a miscarriage a year and a half ago, but this feels different - then I just got really exhausted and I don't remember any other symptoms. Having symptoms this time feels really good!

kgulbransen, L'lee, wishing you both healthy pregnancies! Are you having an early ultrasound? When are your first appointments? Mine is now just over 2 weeks away (at 7w1d), and I cannot wait to see our baby, hoping all is well. I know it's hard not to worry, esp. after trying for so long. And after your losses.
hug.gif

And L'lee, we also had no trouble getting pregnant the first time, but then my cycles went all crazy this time around. Not sure why exactly. Then I ovulated this cycle on CD16 (about when I used to O), and we got pregnant. I guess my hormones were not playing together nicely.

Hi SWEETBEE!!! Nice to see you again :) So this is where all the cool kids are hanging out. I mean, us ladies who took some time to get things rolling.

Hello to everyone! I can identify with Gulbransen and L'lee not being able to really breath a sigh of relief and say, thank goodness - this is it. While I haven't had a pregnancy loss, it did take us 20 cycles to get pregnant and knowing the statistics on mc, I'm not counting my chickens. I miss the bliss of my first pregnancy when I just assumed things would go smoothly (and luckily, they did). On the otherhand, this ball of cells inside of me is SO wanted and so longed for that I will not be oblivious one second or even miss that Friday evening glass of wine while I cook dinner. After all, I'm PREGNANT! I'm still trying to get that through my thick skull.

Hi, Emaya and MommyMatsumoto! Glad to have you here. This has been a good month for ladies who have been trying awhile.
smile.gif

How is everyone feeling? I've already started to pee quite often, probably because I'm so thirsty and drinking a lot. I'm calling myself the "water balloon" because that's how I feel right now.
winky.gif
But it's great!

Two weeks to go until my first checkup! It's another 2WW of sorts, I guess.

#12 ·
Good to see you too, MommyMatsumoto. I remember you were going to my home state for vacation, and I thought you might catch the fertile air quality there... Maybe it worked for you - but just a little after the fact.

Sweet.bee - I just scheduled my first appointment too. It's on Monday, May 30th at 11.00, so I'm in a sort of 2ww myself :).

I'm feeling good. Still no symptoms (though I'm not worried about that, as I didn't have a single symptom with my daughter. Though my stomach did grow a bit towards the end there
winky.gif
). Maybe a bit more tired than usual. But not having symptoms is not stopping me from taking advantage of DH's protective and caring feelings about my pregnancy! I'm talking foot massages, getting to choose what we eat, even when he's cooking; and extra ben & jerry's ice cream.

My appointment is on the same day, only at 9 in the morning.

I'll be 7 weeks. That's a week earlier than my first appt last time, so I hope there's something to see.

I'm feeling great so far, but I'm only 3w5d today and I just feel achy in my uterus area and tired. I expect the nausea and stuff to kick in in a couple of weeks or so. I have no idea when I'm going to have my first appointment because I'm going to plan for a homebirth (VBAC) with a midwife and I need to interview midwives first. I'm so excited!!

Again, I'm so glad to see some familiar faces that made it to the other side. I look forward to following you through your pregnancies!

Hi ladies! Hope all is well. Matsumoto, a homebirth sounds wonderful, I hope you find exactly the right midwife. I've thought about homebirthing as well, but since our nearest (5 minutes by car) birthing center is wonderful and full of fantastic midwives, I figure we'll go that route again. Birth in Sweden is much less medicalized than in the US. My daughter's birth was good, and we were encouraged to make ourselves at home, both physically (dimmed lighting, comfy things from home, music), and emotionally (we felt like the ones who decided over the process -- as much as one can hope to decide over such an uncontrollable event ! -- and our birth plan was respected).

How fun that our appointment is on the same day, Sweetbee! We'll have to compare notes later that day. How are you doing?

I think I'm just over five weeks pregnant today. I wonder how long it will take me to stop studying the toilet paper after every pee for signs of period... or mc...

#16 ·
I've thought about a home birth (mostly because our son came so fast that he practically was born at home
winky.gif
), but I'm probably too chicken. The place where I gave birth last time was amazing (and is very close), but due to some nonsense with cantonal funding and a forced hospital merging, they are no longer doing births. I am so upset! They were even famous throughout the area for their birthing experience. Grrr. There are a few private clinics that sound nice, but they are so expensive. I really don't know what to do at this point.

Emaya, I still check the toilet paper. Every time. And that's often because I'm peeing like crazy.

I DONT EVEN KNOW IF I SHOULD POST HERE, SINCE I ONLY JUST GOT MY........DRUM ROLL....

MAYBE IT WILL JUST BE LIKE THE OTHER TIMES I WAS PREGNANT-CONTINUE WITHOUT COMPLICATIONS. PLEASE PLEASE!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE OTHERS ON THIS BOARD!! I LOOK FORWARD TO US BEING DUE DATE BUDDIES.

Well I might as well join in! We have been TTC for over 7 years. I have had 3 surgeries, 3 different Dr.'s, numerous IM injections, Clomid, HSG's, laparoscopys, IUI and we FINALLY got a BFP for the first time ever!!! We are beyond excited as is our fertility Dr. but only a few people know, basically the ones who knew what day our IUI was and when I could test. It all seems a little surreal and I don't think it has sunk in yet. We do have 1 daughter, that we adopted, who is going to be very excited when she finds out!

I'll be 4 weeks tomorrow and I have been spotting (a teeny tiny bit) every day for the past 3 days. I'm so trying NOT to stress about it!

Emaya and SweetBee - I'm so glad you know of great places nearby that will be a lovely place to have your babies. My first birth was a hospital birth (ended in c-section) and I am so thrilled at the prospect of giving birth vaginally this time around. I'm so glad that Mothering exists so I can talk about my plans without people telling me I'm crazy!

Sweetest, I saw your post on BSL this morning (I lurked there for many months before posting myself -- didn't know if posting would help or hurt my cause in trying to stay 'living in the now' and not obsess about ttc -- and I'll continue to lurk I'm sure to hope and pray that those women get their bfps), and while I wasn't there when you were active, I'm so excited for you! Isn't it otherworldly seeing that positive? I couldn't believe my eyes (and it was hard to focus on that light line when my hand was shaking so much). I yelped from happiness and burst into tears. I'm considering going to buy another test just so I can see a strong positive now that my period is a week late. When are you going to tell your children?

Yay for contactmaya, Starr, and sweetest! This has been an awesome, fertile month for those of who have tried for awhile, and I think we have a great group forming here.

It took us just under 13 months to get pregnant after getting my IUD out. I felt like something was off, but my OB blew it off. I asked for some basic blood work, and that came back normal. My cycles were wonky and ranged from 2 weeks to 35 days. I got pregnant after getting IVIG for another reason, and I believe that is what helped me get pregnant. After the IVIG my cervical mucous was back to normal and I ovulated on time. I think that the issues may have been autoimmune, but since we didn't see a specialist, I'm not positive.
