Everest was born at home yesterday after 2hrs and 20m of true labor (and 10 days of prodromal labor--felt like the longest wait of my life!). He's 8lbs even and 20 1/2 inch long. I'm in heaven and I feel like a rockstar! I gave birth without any pain meds....I've done it before but still I can't believe I made it through it so fast! I pushed him out in, I think, 4 pushes! He was born in the bathtub and Daddy caught him! He's gorgeous! Full head of dark hair...looks like me! He loves to nurse too....he was literally at the breast from his birth (minus a bit of time for his newborn exam and what-not) until 8am this morning! He's finally sleeping! And now I can't! Too excited!
ps- sex really does help move things along! We made love for the first time in weeks and I instantly lost my mucus plug and within 5 minutes, my contractions were 2 minutes apart. He was born 2 1/2 hours later....just a little thought for those mamas who have prodromal labor like me! I knew it had something to do with me and DH being disconnected and I was right!
oh, hooray! welcome, everest! way to go, mama! he looks great! what a way to kick off the new year.
