Can't sleep so I figured I would start today's thread. How is everyone doing??

Are there ANY mommies out there who are actually comfortable? ROTFLMAO.gif

Getting very anxious here.  Fighting a cold myself, found out a student in my son's class was sent home with pinkeye, my Medicaid was unexpectedly and without explanation cancelled and my caseworker has no idea why (gee thanks!)

Oh, and I turn 30 tomorrow which I am having mixed feelings about.

So darn uncomfortable.  Baby is moving constantly in the most awkward positions and is tearing me apart...I feel like my son is trying to replicate the scene in Aliens where the alien burst out of the stomach. Lol.

And I am even more mopey and miserable because last night I was finally able to get a full nights sleep for the first time in ages...I was silly enough to think that it would happen again tonight.

Hoping some of you are feeling more positive and uplifted than I am these days...  hope that some of you are popping some babies out!!

man, chili, you need a break!  i'm so sorry!

i wish you could sleep.  i was happy to read that you'd slept so well last night- felt hopeful that maybe it would be a trend.

happy birthday!  i remember feeling conflicted about turning 30.  when i was a teenager, 30 felt so old.  i refuse to consider myself old.  i may have gray hairs and saggy boobies, but i will not let myself feel old.  my 30s have been much happier than my 20s were, and i hear the same from a lot of my friends.  here's hoping this next decade is a great one!  happy day to you!

and... i can't wait to read about how things are going with cedarwoman in the morning.  anyone else?  hannabee?  wombjuice?  montessorimama?  you all seem awfully ready to me!  thinking of you ladies!

I agree...can't wait to here reports from other mommies!!

And I feel like such a debbie downer, I hate it!!  Ready to get out of this funk and sometimes venting on here is all I can do.  Don't want to bring the hubbie down or make him worry.  I know it is just hormonal stuff and it will pass :o)

I honestly think I feel more conflicted about 30 because I am pregnant right now.  I think if I didn't have the extra emotions going, I'd be fine with it. Just another bump in the road.  Although I do wish I could go out for a beer, haha!

Maybe baby will make his appearance ON my birthday, although I doubt it.  I am thinking he is comfortable where he is for now. Little stinker.

January 10, 2012

I think I am at the first stage of labor. Around 2:50am I just saw blood, “the bloody show.”  Also I have contractions more unusual than the practice ones. I have being having the BH more frequently last few days.  They came and went away and were not regular.  However, now I am feeling them both on lower back and on front. Also, my upper thighs get shaky. My contraction started around 2:25 am.  I am not sure how far along I am when it comes to the cervix opening.   I hope I can make it to the birth center on a good time, a time that is not too early, nor too late.  I am having again that back pain as I write at this moment.  Now it’s 3:10am.  I know I should rest, but I cannot sleep. It’s keeping me up.  I am letting my husband sleep; hopefully he can get enough rest.   He has to take care of us later.  I am hoping to go through the night and get ready to go to the center as the sun comes out.  I really pray that today will be a sunny day. I always wanted to have my boy on a sunny day :-))))

Then again.... this may not be it.... it is so confusing, since it is my first labor I am so confused. That is normal? rt?

Sharmin- FYI I lost my plug a week or two before I actually went into labor with my first born, and from what I hear, losing it a week or two beforehand is fairly common.  Back pain could definitely be a sign (although I have been having that with my BH for weeks now too!)  Just keep timing your contractions.  Once they get consistently less than five minutes or so, i would head in to the hospital or wherever it is you plan on giving birth.  Otherwise, chances are they will just send you home to wait it out. Also, if you are feeling contractions down low in your abdomen, that is a good sign :o)  Take it easy, relax, try and sleep.  Believe me, any sleep you can get before the actual labor is a godsend!!

Hardcoremom- I personally have nothing planned for the birthday.  Husband and I will be dropping our son off at preschool and then heading to the doctor for my BPP and check up. I have already decided I am asking for an exam, I want to know whats going on there!!  Usually would go out to eat with the family, but don't think that is going to happen.  My sister and I are still fighting (or rather, she is) and my parents will be out of town for most of the day for my mom's doctor appointments (she has stage 4 cancer), so I do not think she is going to be up for doing much.  That would leave my dad, my brother, my husband, my son and I.  Something tells me none of these gentlemen are going to come up with anything.  Possibly cake and ice cream :o)

I think beer is the one thing I have craved this pregnancy, odd enough.  I have never been a big drinker, maybe once a month if that I would indulge.  But now that its off limits...my god it sounds divine!! Haha

Can't sleep here...Chilichiki did you finally get some sleep?? Is there any update from Cedarwoman yet??

I'm feeling frustrated. I'm about 41 wks based on my U/S due date and they did an NST and fluid check today (well, yesterday...Monday) and baby was perfectly accomodating and fluid was normal but on the low end of normal. My ob is pretty laid back but said he wants me to come back on Thursday for another check and if fluid is lower than we'll talk about inducing between Friday and Monday. I know that's four days away but I just don't even want to face the thought of induction. It makes me feel all crazy. I just want to be able to labor at home and do my own thing and not feel like someone is watching my every move, etc. I've been having random bouts of "real" ctx and last night they were intense enough to wake me up but since about 4:30 am yesterday, pretty much nothing. Not even many bh! Blah...

add to that my dh is on work-a-holic mode, basically waking up early going to work and coming home, eating dinner and going to bed shortly after our dd is settled (although, why he waits for that since he's not really been helpful, I don't know!) and partially, I'm angry at him for being not helpful with dd and partially I just miss him :( He was supposed to take the day off on Saturday and had "an employee issue" he had to deal with so went in for the better part of the afternoon and then worked late Sunday and stopped off to visit friends at his old job on the way home so was even later than that!! Ugh.

I'm sorry this was such a cranky post...that's whats happening with me right now.

I was sort of hoping this full moon would be a trigger for me but I guess not :( Hope it worked for some of you other ladies who have been waiting!

hey there ladies

38w+3 over here (very approximate since my periods were extremely irregular) and waiting game has already started for me. only a week ago i was chilled and relaxed and didnt care of anything. now i go crazy impatient and the only thing i think about it "when is he going to pop out???" and i have tons of things to do, we've just moved to a new apt, i'm constantly busy but can't think of anything else. frustrating! will have a doc's appointment on friday she wants me to have a one final U/S. and i want to go into labor before that :D feeling super tired since yesterday. BH are mostly happening in the evening not much during the day. drinking my RLT and feeling very 'blah' at the moment. might go for a long walk tonight maybe, i haven't been outside since we've moved

Baby was active this morning around 430 am when I was up dealing with sciatic nerve pain. I put my pants on too fast at the doctor's office yesterday when I was told I needed to hurry up and go get an US that I made the pain even worse. Now I REALLY walk with a limp.

I had to drop 2 of my college classes yesterday because I simply can't afford it anymore. I paid for the one class I need to finish up my certificate and that's it. ): (I'm working on a degree cert and a national cert) I'm just really bummed. I don't ever use the system - I pay for all my schooling, medical bills, books, everything..and it's getting to the point now where I'm just petering out. But, on the plus side, I only have one class on Saturday mornings so my mom can watch baby while I'm gone.

In other news, my national certification test is tonight! I gotta review up and then try not to freak out. LOL. No point in freaking out..if I pass I pass, if I don't..well then I try again. Glad baby at least respected the fact I have a test today. Starting tomorrow though she really needs to make an appearance soon!

Other than that, not a whole lot..no contractions, she's squirming around in there as best as she can, if she doesn't come soon I'm gonna ask to go back to work soon! (yeah right..lol) I'm at 40w3d..*big sigh*

At some point, I need to buy a nursing bra and a pump.

Have a good day ladies! And think of me tonight (: Good luck to those ladies in labor!

Kaitlyn - kick some testing ass!  Go get 'em, girl!

I'm really hoping CedarWoman is holding her babe right now.  And that Sharmin is on the cusp. :)

Chili - your body needs an overhaul!  First you couldn't sleep and now that you can your body isn't cooperating.  Freaking female bodies!

AFM, I have a work meeting today at Panera (yay for hot tea meetings!), wrapping the gifts from babe to siblings, packing my hospital bag and cleaning house.  Such an exciting life!  Oh, and a super quick jaunt to the grocery store to pick up one thing for tonight's taco dinner and possibly stopping in to a few more thrift stores to find a quality dresser that can be used as a changing table.  I'm feeling great and enjoying my last few weeks of my final pregnancy...I'm a really lucky woman in that regard.

Happy Tuesday, chickadees!

good luck on your exam, kaitlyn!

i have cleaning to do and mountains of laundry to take care of, but i'm feeling really unmotivated today.  i was up working way too late last night, and i'm paying for it today.  i wish my afternoon had room for a nap in it.  bummer.

gotta go take care of the dogs and the chickens.

eager to hear baby news from some of you!  and good luck, sharmin.  hope you were able to get some rest between ctx.  hang in there, nisha, the baby's gotta be coming soon!

Here I am!  Lots of ctx and surges for most of yesterday, and even some really uncomfortable ones in the evening, but mostly at the top of my uterus, and very inconsistent with length and duration...my little mermaid is still in there...

Fell asleep around midnight, and had a semi-decent night, but woke up again nauseous this morning, plus I left a couple things out after making a snack last night, so I can hardly walk into the kitchen without gagging (who ever knew that a plate with crumbs on it would do that to a woman?)

Waiting on my midwife to call; she's coming over to do a sweep so we'll see if that gets things going for real.

Chili, I hear you about having mixed feelings about turning 30 (however I still have a few months to get used to the idea :P).  My huge thing was that I wanted at least one kid before I turned 30, and that happened!

HCM, it's nice to hear that your 30s were a much nicer time than your 20s...now I'm starting to look forward to being 30!

...mmm...beer....I was never much of a drinker either, but that's all I've wanted these last couple months.  I got hubby to buy a 6-pack and I'm cracking one as soon as baby's born!!  His grandmother used to volunteer at the hospital when she was young, and said that that was one of the first things they'd give to a new mom, because apparently it made their milk come in!  Interesting, eh?

chili - Happy birthday!  IMO, 30 is an amazing age because you're old enough to have a good amount of life experience behind you (i.e. you're not a floundering 20-something) but you're young enough to have your entire life ahead of you and make something amazing of it!  Enjoy your day!

Kaitlyn - Wishing you the BEST of luck on your exam, I know you're going to nail it because you've been doing so well in school!!  Keep us posted... I'm kinda glad your little one hung on there so you could take the exam.  Now you can relax and I bet she'll come any day!

AQ - Glad you're feeling great, you really are lucky!  I guess attitude has a lot to do with it, too.  Enjoy your tea at Panera!

HCM - Hope you can catch a quick nap today to freshen you up!

hannabee - I'm so excited for you, can't wait to read some good news very soon!!!!

AFM, the next time someone asks me if I've had the baby I'm going to ask them if they've had a bowel movement.  I'm THAT irritated with everyone.  Then one of my mom's friends goes and says that in Brazil the women say that babies take 10 moons to gestate, which would put my due date at around Feb. 7 (a whopping three weeks after my official due date).  Add to that the fact that my mom went over by 3 weeks with both me and my brother, and that this baby seems quite comfortable in my womb, and I'm a crabby crabby pregnant person this morning.

I've been walking a lot, but now the inside of my thighs are chaffed from my sweatpants (wtf???).  I need a day to myself, but there's so much to do...

Hope everyone else is less cranky!

I actually got a decent night of sleep last night! I was convinced I'd be up all night again because of rib pain or heartburn, but for some reason it stayed away. I'm sure I still woke to toss and turn and what not, but I don't actually remember waking until just before 6 am. Then, of course, what I woke to was contractions. They were actually painful, but I tried to sleep through them regardless. I'm really not ready to take my body seriously until it is some intense pain after the whole prodromal labor episode. So I laid in bed trying to sleep for another hour and a half, purposefully not looking at the clock because I didn't want to time the contractions. DD wakes and nurses and it makes them more intense, but then when we get out of bed they turn into just braxton hicks (no lower pain like when I was in bed). This is so frustrating! Last time I had ZERO braxton hicks or false alarms of any sort. This time I've been having BH since 20-something weeks. I wish my body would just make up it's mind already!

From what I've read, losing your mucus plug can happen weeks before delivery (I think I lost mine like 3 weeks ago) and it just keeps happening because it keeps regenerating. Bloody show on the other hand is bloody because the cervical vessels are breaking, so it's a more serious indicator of birth. Still could be days though.

Happy birthday chili!

Re: grey hair: my first ones showed up right after my older son was born.... when I was 25.  My sister has had one grey streak since around the time she had her first child (at 20).  We always thought growing up that our mom was exaggerating when she said that us kids gave her grey hair, but hm, now I'm not so sure... heh.

Kaitlyn, sorry to hear about you having to drop your classes.  :/  But yay for making it to your certification exam!  Good luck with that!!

My 2 year old thought last night would be a great night to start overnight potty learning... which is to say, he woke up at 10:30, 2:30, and 5:30 wanting to use the potty.  I should be psyched about this (we haven't even talked about going diaper free at bedtime yet, this is only his second full week of daytime pottying, so it's great that he's taking initiative) but instead I'm so crabby about being woken up, because of course it took me hours to get back to sleep each time.  Blugh.

All quiet on the uterine front... my OB did a sweep for me yesterday to no avail.  (Much less uncomfortable than I remember it being last pregnancy.)  I bled a bit but that's it.  Oh well.

I noticed my first gray hair on my 25th birthday; I was on a road trip with a girlfriend and we stopped at a rest stop, and I look in the mirror while washing my hands to see a glowing platinum hair on the very top of my head!!  Needless to say, I freaked at my girlfriend (who wouldn't stop laughing, btw), and a middle-aged lady came out of one of the stalls and gave me a dirty look...ROTFLMAO.gif.  It gave me a rather guilty pleasure when my younger, (gorgeous, pin-up-girl body) sister got the same present for her 25th birthday Sheepish.gif

All I'm sayin' is that Stacy (spelling on that) London has that one streak of gray hair and she ROCKS it!

montessorimama - I'm right there with you, and that literally made me LOL. And I'm really hoping for your sake you don't have to wait an additional 3 weeks..that's awful!

That gets me thinking..at 42 weeks it's deemed 'medically necessary' to have an induction..what about the women who have no medical intervention whatsoever?

I'm sorry that most of us are crabby and frustrated. We're the last few 'stragglers' and it seems those of us who are left have babies we are just clinging on and not letting go AT ALL! I, for one, am absolutely shocked this baby has gone past term. It's completely unheard of in my family.

AfricanQueen - I'm entirely jealous! I loveeeee me some Panera! mm mm! Hm..I should find someone to treat me to Panera..after all..I am over 40 weeks pregnant I deserve a treat. LOL

Ok - Really, I'm gonna get back to studying now, take the dog for a walk (we've had 40s and sunshine for the past week - incredible!), and 'lightly' review again. I just want to get it over with!

hah! premature graying runs in my family- i spotted my first hairs at 16.  it's been a very slow progression for me, but i am noticing a few more grays in my temples these days.

funny we've all got a gray hair story, but i can't help but notice that no one wants to join me in talking about sagging breasts.  lol.gif

Psh, I'm 21 and I have saggy boobs and I'm not even a mom yet! They are large and heavy things tend to want to stay close to the ground. Never seemed to bother anyone before, lmbo. That's the only reason why I like bras because they actually put my boobs in place. It is what it is. Unfortunately, I'm scared of surgery and poor so no boob lift in sight for me! (:

My breasts aren't saggy...my bulging belly holds them up nice and high these days!  And I got me some gray hairs.  I'm totally longing for the day that I can start coloring again!!

Chili - enjoy 30.  I'm with HCM and Pilar...the 30s are so much better than the 20s.

@ chili - I turned 27 during this pregnancy, and I did not handle it well at all, so I can commiserate with you.  30 is a great age though! Still have the whole world in front of you :-)

Re: gray hairs, I sprouted a few of them sometime in the last 2 years.  My mom is 48 and has maybe 10 gray hairs max that she started getting sometime in her 40s, so I'm a little mad about that, lol.  But really, there are worse things right?

I'm hoping cedarwoman pops in on this thread soon and she's had her LO!  And where's wombjuice?? :-)

Last week, I would have said that my body is certainly getting ready.  The last few days have been really tough emotionally, going through some personal issues that involve a *lot* of crying, insecurity and depression.  I think that has kind of slowed things down.  I'm trying to be mindful that I have to help my body and baby get ready for this journey...

Hey guys....just know that the hormonal meltdown means baby is making way! I was a total mess for 2-3 days before E was born. It's almost over!

I like knowing this...I've been randomly bawling over the silliest stuff, which of course, was a big deal at the time I was crying about it (like, I didn't want my baby to share a birthday with a cousin we don't really like...how dumb is that?)

Update: no sweep today; midwife was up all night with another birth and asked if I'd mind waiting until the morning, to which I said of course not (I'd much rather her be rested for my birth, if the sweep does kick-start everything).  Lovely surges all day though, and they slowly seem to be moving down my belly instead of just staying at the top...hmmm....

SIL said to go jump on the bed for a while; I've decided I'll bounce on my ball instead and watch Numbers...let's see if we can just bounce this little mermaid out!

Well, no mini-road trip for me today...my friend was sick.  So it's a day at home with nothing constructive planned and that equals THE LONGEST DAY EVER!!  DS is trashing the house and I'm too tired to pick up after him.  He is currently throwing playdough across the kitchen.

Went to the chiro and the baby was obviously posterior, but he turned back around soon after we got home.  Yay.

Kaitlyn - good luck on your exam!!  You'll do great after how hard you worked!

Chili - turning 30 was the hardest for me by far.  I still tell people that I've turned 29 five times...soon to be 6.  I totally understand.  Happy Birthday!!

Hannabee - it'll be any day now!!  You are soooo close!

Coldandsleepy - my 2 yr old woke up to go potty for the first time this week, too.  Maybe we'll only have newborn diapers to wash soon!

biophdmom - remember to drink a ton of water before your next nst.  Hope your fluids come back up!  Is your husband a research scientist, too?  Mine is and I can't even imagine putting in that number of hours at work!

montessorimama - I'm so grumpy today, too.  You are not alone!

Sharmin - Good Luck!

Cedarwoman - I can't wait to hear about the little one!

Tonight we are going out to eat, at a brewery I think.  What kind I looks do you think I'd get if I just ordered myself a big cold beer???  MMMmmm.

Check in with all you ladies later tonight!

LOLOL! Kids will be kids, right? my dd is lucky when she gets to play with playdough cuz I hate the stuff.

Hannabee-here's hoping hormonal meltdowns mean baby is almost ready...i've been a mess today! Although oddly, even though I didn't sleep past 3 am last night, I'm not tired. Tried taking a nap and just laid there so I went for a walk.

juneboymum-I'm trying to be a really good water drinker every day up till that NST so I don't have any "low fluids". It's all kind of ridiculous...and no, my husband isn't a scientist, he's a restaurant manager, so his hours are wild and a little unpredictable. He's only been at his current job for a few months so he's still getting stuff in order and getting everyone to work with his systems...which is tricky because they had been essentially unmanaged for almost a year. Anyways, we did talk a little this morning before he went to work and I feel better about that situation :)

everyone else-hope you are feeling okay! all those ladies with the terrible pelvic/hip pain, how are you doing?

and hope we meet more babies soon (one of them mine, hopefully) joy.gif

Had my last group session with the mw this afternoon. All appts. from now on with be individual. Got to meet some beautifully squishy babies that the other mamas brought in to share. Feeling a little better emotionally and a little worse physically. MIL is flying in Saturday, so baby might wait until then...or later. *sigh*.

Can't comment much on the grey hair or turning thirty...I have NO experience in either department :P

Still here!  Still pregnant!  LOL.  Today was my last day of "work" (unpaid student clinical work, lol) and then I had a chiropractor appointment, so I've been out almost all day.  Now back at home with these same irregular pressure waves that won't get any closer together or any stronger, but come continually throughout the day and night.  That's okay, though...I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm never going to go into labor, so DH and I rented the original three Star Wars movies and are going to watch one per day so I don't go completely nuts this week!!

The third Transformers was horrible, btw.  Well, I didn't like it anyway.  Nothing happened for the first eight hours of the movie, and the second 8 hours was a never ending battle scene that could have been cut by more than half.  Pregnancy has made me so cynical, lol.

We are getting some rain here...maybe the weather will bring babies out?  Since the full moon didn't seem to do much for us...

My chiropractor told me that I was going to birth on Thursday evening or Friday morning, then said, "Oh no!  Friday is the 13th!  Are you superstitious?"  To which I replied that I was not...and he said, "Well, I am!"  I said, "Nah...doesn't matter if baby is born on Friday the 13th...next year the 13th won't be a Friday anyway."  I, personally, love the number 13...so whatevs.

Glad to read all the updates from you all!  It's been so great to have such a wonderful support group of women going through most of the same stuff.  I can't wait for us all to have our babies!! grouphug.gif

LOL! Wombjuice - I feel the same way..I'm convinced I won't ever have a baby to show after all this.

I'm back from my exam and I passed! I now am a Certified Healthcare Access Associate, woohoo. Thank goodness it's over!

I feel really, really ...   d r a i n e d today. I woke up today really zonked and I suppose I never recovered--my mouth and throat were super dry, I had strange dreams all night (various anxiety dreams about having to keep babies from falling in holes and stuff like that, another one about watching a baby fall from a carnival ride straight on its head and its mother doing nothing about it), and I woke up quite a few times having to pee so bad it hurt! I have absolutely no energy whatsoever today, so much so that I don't have the energy to even eat or sleep. It sucks because my man finished painting the baby's room two days ago which I've been excited about for months now, and I thought as soon as he was done painting I would immediately organize and decorate and nest but...ugh, I just don't have it in me. greensad.gif

I'm also feeling really down about the thought of not being pregnant much longer. I wish I was like the many ladies I know who are dying to have their babies, but I'm starting to really worry that I'm going to get depressed when I'm no longer pregnant. It's just so nice knowing that my baby is inside of me all warm and cozy and getting everything she needs--I can't bear the thought of having her out in the big, cold, mean world. The thought of anybody other than me, my man, and my midwives holding her is making me super wigged out. I suppose I'm having a lot of trouble *letting go* of having her safe and all to myself. I'm worried that I'm going to get super hormonal and possessive when she's out.

Not to mention that I have a very sketchy relationship with my mother. To make a super life-long story short, she left when I was 9 and my father raised me until I was grown. I never held any resentment toward her, but we've had a strange relationship ever since. We were getting along *ok* over the years, but she seems to have a strange jealousy over me and my happiness. When I told her I was pregnant, she didn't show any emotion whatsoever--was almost mean about it, and then I found out later that she went against my wishes to keep it under wraps until my 12th week and told my whole family (on my father's side--who she's been divorced from for years now!). Well, we didn't talk throughout much of the pregnancy until about a month or two ago, and it was *amazing*. For the first time in my life since I was a child, I felt like I had a mother--we talked about her pregnancies and she gave me advice--it was really, really nice. Then a week before Christmas she sent me a text message out of nowhere saying, "Goodbye, tell my granddaughter I love her and she will be missing a lot." I had no idea where this came from, and of course I tried contacting her to find out what happened, and she didn't answer my calls. It was pretty devastating--thinking that everything was better than it had been in years to then all of the sudden get a smack in the face like that a week before Christmas and a month before I'm due to have a daughter of my own. What I don't understand is her resentment toward me--*she's* the one that left *me*! Shouldn't *I* be the one holding resentment toward her??? And now, for the first time in my life, I'm angry, and finally feeling resentment toward her. The resentment builds when I think about the fact that she was inconsiderate to do this and leave me in the dark about it right before I'm about to have a baby--when I was feeling so, so blissful.

I don't know--to sum it up, I suppose I just feel like I want to go to bed and start over tomorrow. guilty.gif Sorry to be such a downer. I feel like this is my only outlet to let this out right now because I don't want to stress my man out about it while he's at work.

Wombjuice - my husband was born on a Friday the 13th...and he's pretty stinking awesome. :)  It just might be your day.

Kaitlyn - WOOT!!  I just *knew* you could do it.  Be very proud of yourself, girly!

demoonunit - How completely unfair of your mother to do that to you.  And at such an emotional time, to boot!  As an aside, you've said some things in recent posts that are making me think you may have a touch of pregnancy related depression.  If that's the case, please know you can reach out to others during this time before it potentially blows into full force PPAD (which I've had and wouldn't wish on my worst enemy).  I hope you know I'm saying this because I care and not with any ill-intent.
