My daughter's 5th grade teacher this year has taught them to take notes on sticky notes. I've been using the smallest size. For now they are staying in the book as bookmarks, eventually they could transfer to a notebook where I might expand on them if needed. I thought it was a horrible waste of paper until I started doing it, now I like it far more than notecards.

I really like this idea! I love sticky notes and this way they could all be kept together much easier. I am always scattering my notecards all over the place.

Oh, and I just ordered Varney's and told my dh he was giving it to me for Christmas. He replied, "Good for me!".

This is such a good point and one that I tend to loose sight of. :-/ But it is SO true. I'm waiting for my AAMI Orientation pack to come in the mail. So to keep myself busy while I wait I'm re-organizing my files and my filing system. It made sense to me at one time, but so many priorities have changed that I haven't touched a lot of these files in a long time and after moving a few times they aren't labeled well to make them usable. :-(

Well it's hard to believe that our 2009 thread is almost done! So much has happened to so many of us this year.

I'm going back to Indonesia for a 3 week apprenticeship (leaving Sunday) to tack onto the end of the 7 weeks I did in July. Looking forward to it! And I'm totally hoping for a Christmas and New Years baby!

mamarabbit, so exciting! i will see you there in less than two weeks.

NARM Paperwork: do we have a thread on this? if not, i think an ongoing thread to help fill it all out would be helpful. I looked on the NARM website Forums but it's not as helpful as I would like. I will post over there whenever I get a log in ID.

Merry Christmas!

doula mama to my nov 05 and my feb 08 babes who wrap me in love.

I've seen some various NARM questions and threads, but not a specific thread like this one. I just caught up all my paperwork earlier this month... so far my goal is to sit for the exam in October. You?

Anyone else been to, or planning to go to Better Birth?

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate...

I live in Utah. I have never been to Better Birth though. Will you be in Salt Lake or Utah County (I live in Utah County)? When are you coming?

I'll be working out of the birth center mostly I believe, since I'm doing primary care... but I think there's a chance I'll be going along to some homebirths too.

I'll be there for five weeks in Feb/Mar.

It sounds like that area is really busy for midwives!

I was just surfing around Amazon, trying to decide what to get with my Christmas gift card, and saw that they have Obstetric Myths Versus Research Realities for only $5.99 on the Kindle rather than $43ish for the book.

http://www.amazon.com/Obstetric-Myth...dp/0897894278/

It is only tempting me more to get the Kindle!

In other news, I am almost ready to request my Phase 3 work through AAMI. Yay! I'm hoping to get it before it is time to have this baby, because I'm guessing that I'll need a bit of a break afterwards

I noticed that about a month ago and posted about it here.

You don't need a Kindle, you can read it on your PC via free Kindle for PC.

I think they will be fine... my youngest is only 3.5yo but she stays busy with her older siblings and since we homeschool she'll be with them and either hubby or my parents all the time.

I've been refusing to think about it until now, but it's hitting me since we're getting so close.

I would be nervous too! It sounds like your little ones will be with the best possible people while you are gone. I know you will be super busy but if you find yourself without anything to do I would love to meet up for lunch or tea sometime.

Happy New Year!!!
I'd love to hear everyone's midwifery goals for 2010.
I'm hosting a Birth Circle this month! NNR in February. Doula Training in March. Working on an article on midwifery for a magazine. Graduating from The MMA Basic Course in June. Looking to start an apprenticeship this Summer! Also ready to start teaching CBE & FAM and start doula-ing this Summer. It's going to be a great year! Woot!!!

Wow, you have a lot going on Angelique!

Let's see... I just renewed my NPR so I'm good there, but need to find time to renew my CPR soon. Eek!

Two more January births coming up (one mine, one my preceptor's)
(we had a New Year's Day baby born at 12:50am today, a chunky adorable 10lb 11oz, 23" boy)
One in February
I'll be in Utah at Better Birth for the last week in Feb and all of March
In addition to my preceptor's summer clients, I have one client in April and possibly two in August.
I'm hoping to sit for the NARM at the MANA conference in October.

2010 is looking to be a great busy, fantastic year. 2009 was just plain at times, but I've learned soooo much. I'm eternally grateful to my hubby, kids and my mom for keeping my house from turning into a complete wreck and sticking with me even when I was distracted and/or tired.

I really do think this will be a good year, the only thing that worries me right now is my MIL's health (she has Alzheimer's and will be living alone at home once her grown grandson moves out here soon) and my dh is her POA. It can be so exhausting for him.
