I know most chiros dont' deliver babies although it is in their scope of practice in some states but I am wondering what role chiros have in the birthing process if any. I went to a chiro when I was pregnant and got my ds to turn before delivering. But do they ever attend births or work through birthing centers? Or do midwifes typically recommend one that they prefer? Thanks

be good family...

I don't have a lot of experience with this, but will share what I know. I've delivered in both a SABC and am planning a homebirth with my current pregnancy. The CNM's at the birth center had chiros that they would recommend if you were interested, but didn't push them on you. My midwife works with a circle of birth professionals - doulas, chiros, accupuncturist, etc. She will recommend the chiro that she works with, but again doesn't force her on you. She'll suggest seeing her if you are complaining of an issues, need the baby rotated, getting close to due date, etc. I work with a local pregnancy center what has a chiro who see patients in their offices. I'll recommend him to my doula clients if they are curious, but never force him on them. I've never heard of a chiro attending a birth as a coach or to catch the baby, but I know that sometimes chiros or acupunturist will come in to do adjustments or treatments to ease labor (I think acupunture over chiro).

That's what I know. Hope it helps a bit.
