Definites would you mind PMing me just so I can say Hi and touch base with you?

I didn't! I think that makes 5-7 definites, but I don't know who exactly is on the list.

Hi hram! You can still get in on the group. I'm waiting to hear from Carla about how to finalize this. I sent her an email to double check for you that you can delay enrollment. I'll let you know as soon as I hear from her ok?

I e-mailed Carla a question yesterday, and she said she might not be at the computer today and to call her if needed. Just a heads up for that.

Thanks for the heads-up about Carla not being in the office. I'll email Lori too just in case.

rachaelmomma - There is no further discount after 6 people. It's still a huge amount of money off. If you sign up for the Great Start 4 package, it's a total of $2250 off.

We do have til tomorrow. I'll let you all know immediately when I find out the next step.

I'm just curious about the great start 4 package. . . has anyone decided for or against it yet?
I was going to do the philomath anyway and this is only double that so I think I have to do it

What are the things I bolded? Anyone know? And by adding 3 years to enrollment that means it gives you a total of 6 years 3 months to finish?

Quote:
GREAT START 4 $899 (10% discount for payment in full at enrollment; deduct $90 OR deposit of $299 and six payments of $100 each)

Adds 3 years to enrollment counting the Philomath, CCE, NARM FOCUS.
* Fruit and Veggie AEU Project (normally $12)
* Fetoscope/FHT AEU Project (normally $12)
* Full Set of Helping Hands Conference Tapes (normally $125)
* Philomath 5 (normally $175)
* and 1 year Extension (normally $200)
* Time Tracking StarterKit (normally $7)
* AAMI Totebag (normally $23 or free with full set of tapes)
* 4 year Study Calendar (normally $16/$17)
* Student ID (normally $5)
* Childbirth Educator Option with Critique (Normally $250)
* Annual Report Voucher (valid for up to 6 Annual Report Fees $25 ($150)
* Helping Hands, The Apprentice Workbook (ebook) ($30)
* Precious Preborn ($12.50)
* Womb with a View Keyring ($12.50)
* Placenta Intensive Study Module - a Section 3 Option ($29.95)
* NARM FOCUS ($250) OR $100 store credit and 1 year extension
* AAMI's Midwifery Skills Lab $20 voucher ($20 reduction on MSL fee)
* 10 Mini Buttons
* 10 Trust Birth Bands
* Research Update for Midwives, by Gail Hart
* Back issue of Mothering and Compleat Mother
* Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering, by Sarah Buckley
And the placenta intensive study module sounds cool.

I decided I want to add that on. I believe the AEUs are additional projects and if you acquire a certain amount of those, plus get on the honor roll a few times, when you graduate you get awarded a Master of Midwifery Studies (which doesn't actually mean much, but sounds pretty cool )

so it would be $2975 for everything if six people enroll? and if i say yes i would be number six?

im trying to figure out if this is the right time. so can i get some opinions? I have the $$ but im in the middle of my cbe cert with ALACE. im really going to focus and try to finish by june of next year. then i have to start homeschool with my dd in aug and then start aami in oct. my dh is in the navy and going to a boat at the beginning of the year so he will be in an out from sea for a few years. so i can travel back and forth and get my parents to help with my kids when he is gone so i dont fall behind in my school work. but as far as working with another midwife it may be a year after i start aami before i get to do that, im still not sure what i will do with my kids when i have to be on call. i dont have anyone as of now that can do that but i figure i have a while before i have to make a decision. is anyone else planning on waiting before working with another midwife? does this sound like it could work for me? my dh is very resistant because he doenst see how this can all work out for me with homeschool, teaching cbe class and doing all the kid and house stuff on top of aami. i want to be totally commited to it when i start. sorry to ramble on but my head is mush right now!

I can't apprentice in my state so I will be doing aami (at a leisurely pace--since that pacakge gives you so much extra time, and because my kids are young) and when we move (3ish years) I will look into apprenticeship when I get there and that could take a year or two, I figure. So, sure I think the time is right for you

I can't make that decision for you, but if you think you can be committed, then you certainly are saving quite a bit of money.

That's why I'm enrolling now. I have a 16 month old, and hopefully by next year will also have a newborn. There is no way I'll be apprenticing any time soon, but I figure I can get a head start on the academic stuff at nights while my husband takes a turn with the kids. I'm adding on the Great Start option, which give you an extra 3 years, so I'd have 6 years, 3 months to complete the program. For me, I think that is do-able.

Oh and for 6 people, if you add on that package it's $2600
It'd be $2900 for 5 people, with the package. Oh, yeah, and plus the enrollment fees. . .

Yes, the total (tuition, Great Start 4, registration fee and curriculum deposit) is $2975

hram - I don't know you and how you operate, but I think it sounds like you could totally make it work!

I'm homeschooling 3 out of my 4, I teach music lessons, run a household and am very part time assisting a midwife. I very confidant I can still do this program in a relatively timely manner!

busybusymama is a homeschooler of 3, midwife assistant and AAMI student. You could ask her some questions about how she manages her time.

A lot of students wait til they are a year or two in before starting their apprenticeship. I hope that helps with your decision.

(Total side note - I was an AirForce wife for 6 years. I don't know how you Navy wives do it! )

*Big News!*

We are back up to six! mommyndoula is in!!!!

Still waiting on final instructions.

I'll keep everyone posted.

i think my biggest draw back is my dh, he isnt the most supportive. he wants me to do it but doesnt want to shell out the cash and have me have such a long commitment. he is kindof thick headed sometimes, he thougt it would only be like a year long: and if i cant finish this in six years, i would say im just not cut out for it!
