Apprenticeship Opportunity in Eugene, OR. I am a CPM seeking a student assistant for my small homebirth practice. I serve around 10-12 women per year. This opportunity is perfect for someone willing to take their time with gathering their skills.

Qualifications for consideration would include:

~Willingness to live within 15 min. of Eugene

~Have reliable transportation and cell phone

~Current CPR and NRP certification

~A written letter or email sharing about yourself and your path and goals into midwifery

~Commitment to my practice and to the women we serve

Love your page. Sounds like you have wonderful philosophies on birth and I would apply in a heartbeat but I am an hour south of you in Roseburg and cannot relocate greensad.gif Good luck in your serch!

If only it were a couple of years down the road. I'm planning on going into midwifery when my children are older.


What are the midwifery laws in Oregon like?

The midwifery laws in Oregon are very supportive of homebirth. There has been some recent lobbying to have our current laws changed to mandate licensure for all practicing midwives.( House Bill 2380) However, many supporters of out of hospital birth wrote to their representatives and attended the hearing against this bill. As of now, it has been put aside!!!
