I am a student midwife with the National Midwifery Institute and am seeking an apprenticeship. My plan is to train with experienced midwives while completing my academic education through NMI, then sit for the NARM exam and practice as a CPM.
For the last decade, I have studied midwifery informally and am pleased to be formally enrolled in school. In the past two years, I've certified as a birth doula, trained as a childbirth educator and helped start a doula networking group here in Syracuse, New York. I am trained in CPR and neonatal resuscitation.
Our family is hoping to move from New York to somewhere that is more midwife friendly (and warmer). My husband has started applying for jobs in South Carolina and Oregon, but we're open to other possibilities.
