I am currently working to be become a nursing student, but I'm beginning to realize I would love to become a midwife. I aspire to be a midwife someday and would love more information on the entire process. I currently live in Katy, Texas which is only 30 minutes outside of Houston. I'm actually wanting to move out of Texas if possible. I'm very new to this and would love any and all advice I can get. I'm very overwhelmed at the moment. I would really appreciate all the help I can get.

A good first step is to learn about the types of midwives and which you would like to be. With the political climate around CPMS I think that is is a good idea to look into the CNM credential instead. Both processes take a lot if work, but one comes with legal stability. If you want to attend at home really research the legal climate of where you would like to live.

Nursing is a great place to start - and will give you lots of career options, including midwifery. Keep going! It's worth it.

"Both processes take a lot if work, but one comes with legal stability."

If only that were true. The homebirth midwife I used with my fourth baby was a CNM and was persecuted for attending home births in Maryland.
