I'm finding there are so many different ways to be certified as a birth doula, it's a little overwhelming. Seems like DONA is most known, which may mean being found by women in need through their site. After all, when I searched Doula, that's the first thing that came up.
Intuitive Childbirth is a free program if you get chosen in their lottery, or you could pay for a guaranteed spot. It seems to be all online
My longterm goal is to be a midwife, so I thought this would be a good starting point while I go through the process. I will be looking at CNM because it seems to have more options as far as working in hospitals, birth centers and home births in NJ.
I'm currently through their program and can vouch for them. Great intro and has an awesome support base and learning community. They offer work with Placentas, LC, CBE and doulas so a bit of everything is availble for a good price.
There is a large thread on the Facebook group Doula to Doula Support raising some concerns about Intuitive Childbirth. https://www.facebook.com/groups/doulatodoulasupport/permalink/801262949890190/
The group is only for doulas or those aspiring to be one. Hope that helps.
