Trouble getting clients

Hi all!

I am new here and I have a question. How do you go about seeking out clients? I've been doing this for about 2 years, I've attended about 14 births. All of my previous clients seem to be very happy with me and I have some good testimonials on doulamatch.net. It seems like I go through phases (we're talking months) where no one wants to hire me. It gets discouraging. I do interviews and then... nothing. They decide to go with other doulas. Its okay with me that they hire other doulas. It is important for them to choose the right doula for them. But I guess I start to wonder if there is something I am doing or NOT doing that is turning them off/away. I am still working on certification through DONA, so it might get better once that is done.

What do you do or discuss at interviews with potential clients? What do you feel like is the primary reason you get hired? Do you have any tips for someone in this position? Thanks!

Are you part of a local doula network? I get many of my interviews from ours.
