I watched a documentary about birth a while back and it was saying how in early America people started hanging fliers with pictures of ugly gypsy women with a caption that read something like "would you want her to deliver your baby?" and then the hospitalized births began to become dominant.
I'm an aspiring doula and I'm trying to write an essay about why the idea of home birthing is so foreign to us now. If anyone can offer any online leads to information I would be forever grateful.
