This morning I woke up and had cramps and a weird shooting perineum pain. Almost like during labour, but no contraction pain. The cramps were associated with diarrhea I think, but I've had low-level cramps all day. And the perineum pains have continued all day. Mostly when I get up from a seated position, but also just randomly.

Should I be worried? I don't remember feeling this with my first baby.

My first midwife appointment isn't until July 21, but they said I could call if I had any concerns. I don't want to waste their time if this is something normal.

Thanks

Hi BerryMac,

I wouldn't hesitate to call with any questions- you aren't wasting their time, it's their job and what they signed up to do.  I called my doula friend and my health care provider today to ask about the state of my cervix and these sensations I've had lately that feel like a warm, tugging feeling around my uterus.  I was embarrassed at first but needed to call to ease my mind.

I had cramps last week but I think it was beans.  No more beans!  I hope it was just something you ate and that you feel better soon! :)

Thanks - I don't actually have a midwife assigned, so I don't even know who to have paged. I'll wait until tomorrow morning and call if it's still there.

Is it still there? My guess is that it doesnt have anything to do with pregnancy. This has happened to me a couple of times since I had DD and I think it was a result of (TMI) straining too hard to poop. Both times it lasted a couple of days and went away. Once I was cleaning a spot on the floor and I was squatting for a couple of hours and when I stood up the last time, I had shooting perennial pain.

I was having some similar pains down there a few weeks ago. It made me nervous as well, but the pain has stopped and everything seems okay so far with this pregnancy.

Good luck!

Hi everyone!

The pain was gone this morning. Not sure what it was, but if it comes back I'll definitely be calling the midwife. I'll ask about it at my appointment - they might know what it is.

I think the midwife should always be happy to answer these types of questions.

Agreed it's kind of a pooping issue.  I am SO constipated and having to put creams because I am bleeding :*(

I'm pretty worried. The pain went away the other night, but last night and today I'm spotting. I know it's "normal" during pregnancy, but it's still shocking to see on the tp. Going to call my midwife.

She couldn't say one way or the other, obviously. She said it could be implantation bleeding, constipation straining, just regular (in 1/4 of pregnancies) spotting, or impending miscarriage. No way to tell unless something (or nothing) happens.

I am not having cramps that I would associate with miscarriage so praying this is just something minor and it stops. But my boobs don't seem as sensitive as they did, so I'm a little worried that the baby is gone. greensad.gif

The bleeding continued through the day and I actually had some small clots, like a period. So I decided to go to the hospital once my husband got home, for them to check hcg (beta) levels and possibly do an ultrasound. Yeah, right. They drew the blood directly after I was registered, but I sat in the ER for 5 hours and wasn't seen. I figured it wasn't doing me any good to sit there and not sleep, so I decided to leave and let my midwife call tomorrow or Monday to get the results. No u/s tech on duty anyway.

The wait time for non-urgent patients...8 hours. Seriously. That's ridiculous.

I'm hoping it's just late and heavy implantation, but at this point? Not sure. Praying that it's ok.

Thanks to everyone.

I had a lot of blood, and passed a placenta tonight around 1030 pm.

I will go to an Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic appointment on Mon or Wed for an u/s and 2nd hcg test (to compare to the one i got a hospital on Friday night) to see what's going on, and to make sure all tissue is out. There is a possibility that there is a twin in there, I'm sure, but I doubt it. Looks like I'm out for a Feb baby.

I'm ok.
