DH and I fought up until the very end with DS2 and it actually ended up coming down to a bet (which I won). And we named him Noah.

I like honoring family, but hate Jr's, III's, etc. My oldest son is named after his father (previous marriage) and I hate the confusion. I also hate nicknames for the most part. Ex-DH's family calls him Shawnee to differentiate (his name is Shawn) and it drives me nuts. He is the III. So this time when we wanted to honor family, I said it could not be an identical name to a family member. DH's family is Russian (father lived there until he was in his 20's) and he typically calls our children and DH' and his siblings by the Russian versions/nicknames of their name (which surprisingly doesn't bother me.. we call our son Noah Noi usually). So this time when we found out we were having a boy we decided to name him after DH's brother. His name is Michael, which I'm not particularly fond of, so we are naming him the Russian nickname of Michael, which is Misha. DH's family also has a tradition that the father's first name is the middle name. I think all of our sons (since we have only boys!) with the same middle name is totally boring... so we are hyphenating this baby's middle name with DH's first, FIL's first. So all together we get Misha Andrew-Arkady A- (our incredibly Russian unpronounceable A last time)

I also absolutely love picking gender neutral names. This time we decided whether it was a boy or a girl, the name would be Misha. If he ended up being a girl we'd alter the spelling to Mischa.

I LOVE the names Jack and Charlie. I just told DH if we ever have another baby we should just choose Charlie, boy or girl. He wrinkled his nose at me. redface.gif But I have a classical "boys" name (Jesse) and I like being a little different.
