Hey all, anyone want to join me in trying to develop some good exercise and/or eating habits?  I'm still up 6 lbs from pregnancy (hey, I only gained 22) but I also have another 20 I'd really like to lose.  I hate looking in the mirror these days!  (And, man do I hate that c-section shelf!!!!!!!).  Anyone else ready to start making a change?

I'm with you- I'm only up 9, but i have an additional 10 I want to lose from before pregnancy.. and I have the c-section pouch... any ideas on how to get rid of it?  I still can't really exercise for another 2-3 weeks given lingering pain, but I am certainly thinking about it!

Thank goodness for breastfeeding, because Finn is definitely helping, the hungry boy he is!

me too... i also tried to do a bit of yoga and felt some badness in my incision area.  i've been doing some treadmill and am going to do the couch to 5 k thing, at least that's my intention.

nak

Still up 5ish lbs from pre-preg weight.  I gained 29lbs, dropped the first 25ish in the first 2 weeks PP with no effort...but these last 5 are hanging on.  I'd be ok with losing 3 more, I can't help but think that the increased breast tissue is part of the 5lbs that is above my PP weight.

I had just lost weight through weight watchers right before getting PG, so I don't know if that's why my body is resisting losing more.  I eat pretty good.

I also have no motivation to exercise...just so tired.

I joined the 8 week healthy weight loss thread, but Ill pop in over here too.

I have 20 lbs to lose, weighing in right now at around 150- Id like to be around 130. Im 5' tall, so that would put me right at "normal" according to BMI. I feel like its so hard to find time to exercise. I only gained 9 lbs with this pregnancy, and Ive lost quite a bit (I weighed 169 the day Charlie was born, do I lost about 20 lbs but then have just plateaued there).

I'll join in here, too! I ended up with a net loss during pregnancy and after the birth I was 35 lbs lighter than the day before I gave birth. However I still have weight I'd like to lose. I'm 5 weeks now and have been trying to start with some yoga, but I can't seem to get more than 3 minutes due to babe's belly issues. I'm thinking I'll put her in the carrier and try a walking workout today. That shouldn't be too rough on her.

What is everyone else doing for exercise?

I'm basically just doing c25k and a mini workout with my shake weight. It is really hard to find time to workout with a two year old right underfoot.

C25k looks like a good program! I am not at all interested in running races, but it looks like a great program for increasing your endurance and fitness. Have you started yet? What week are you on?

I'm doing couch to 5k too.  I've only completed days 1& 2 so far but when I did it 6 years ago (!) I found it really worked well.  While I don't really love exercising, I love the efficiency of running-- lots of muscles worked lots of calories burned in a short time.  So, I've decided to have DH be in charge of both girls for 40 minutes three mornings a week.  We'll see...  he's game but so far he seems afriad to try and do something for DD1 and bring DD2 along with him.  He's not much of a multi-tasker!

I've tried yoga a few times but it's impossible for me to get alone time in the house and yoga with DD1 really alternates between her showing me some funny move she's come up with or her climbing on me.  I can still get exercise that way but no zen!  I also have been going on lots of walks wit both girls.  DD2 will happily walk 2 miles.  But those walks seem to include ice cream in the middle of them Sheepish.gif

In general I'm finding it really hard to eat well throughout the day.  I can't bear the idea of counting or measuring at this point (ie: weight watchers) so I just begin each day with the goal of getting in 5 full servings of fruit and veggies and limiting my treats.  It's been working pretty well until 7 or 8 pm or so when I desperately want an enormous bowl of ice cream!  I think part of it is that we're eating dinner at 5 so DD1 (who completely dropped all naps after DD2 was born) can get to bed at 7.  But, around 7 or 8 I'm starving and each night I relent and have a giant bowl of ice cream.  So in addition to setting my exercise goals, maybe I can also persuade myself to have a different snack at night!

This happened to me all the time when I was pregnant with my first. I was able to get by with a big glass of milk instead. I found it was the calcium I needed, not the ice cream. If you try it let me know if it works!

It sounds like you are off to a good start so far!

I'll join too! I'm about 10lbs from ppw but really need to drop a total of 30 lbs. I had a vbac but STILL have that nasty c-section shelf. It can go away, I've seen it with my own eyes. I'm just now sure how. Both my step mom and mother have gotten rid of theirs. I still have this tear I'm heal but as soon as I'm not so sore down there, it's on like donkey kong! LOL I've got a dvd "How to look better naked" and I might get the book too. And also my beloved yoga!

Lets do this ladies!

I'll join in though I'm starting very slowly. I'm only 3.5 weeks PP, healing from a 3rd degree tear, and now dealing with an infection. However, I started walking a week ago after my midwife said I could start walking, swimming, and yoga as tolerated. I haven't stepped on the scale, but I suspect I have around 10 pounds left to go based on how my pre pregnancy pants fit (or don't fit). Plus, I have and additional 40-50 lbs on top of that I'd like to lose (30 from my 1st pregnancy that I never lost and 20 more to get to my wedding day weight). I hope my csection shelf from DS1 will disappear too as I lose the weight. Once I hit the 6 week mark and get the all clear, I'll start a varied version of the couch to 5k by Jeff Galloway. I found the c25k just a bit too much for my body to handle thanks to some old injuries. I already have the goal to do a half-marathon in December, which was my goal last year but pregnancy changed that goal to this year.

I just completed week 1 of the c25k.  Pretty proud of myself :)

I also managed to resist my enormous bowl of ice cream 2x in a row,  But with three birthday parties for DD in the past week (kid, at school, family!) I've still eaten quite a bit of junk.  Turns out I need a new scale too.  My current one is really unpredictable.  Turns out a foot is loose but it can't be tightened.  So annoying!

OdinsMommy - I have 50 to go to get to wedding day weight but I'd be ecstatic to get to post honeymoon weight :)  Wedding day weight was impossible to maintain!

parsley, i have recently managed to subdue my ice cream habit with cabot's greek yogurt.  have you tried it?  it's amazing.

maternalove, my 'shelf' went away last postpregnancy, but it's back with a vengeance.  i wonder if it's just still swolen in there right now?

though, i have more going on than just that business right now.  i went on a huge walk with dd yesterday and have been making slow friends with the treadmill.  i remember yoga made the overhang go away last time, but it seems painful right now, i couldn't do a sun salutation-- plank hurt and i gave up.  still sore.

The couch to 5k program sounds like a good idea - I think I might give it a shot too. I have 15lbs left to lose to get to my prepregnancy weight, but I'd like to lose around 25 since I had some extra weight on me to begin with. In addition to exercise, I need to stop snacking so much during the day. I'm enjoying being at home with ds right now, but I can't seem to shed any weight because I spend too much time in the kitchen which results in constant snacking.

Post-Honeymoon weight is definitely more realistic for me too, but I can dream or beg/pray at least. praying.gif. The honeymoon did me in as DH developed the flu our first day so we were stuck with room service for the duration and no activity *clears throat* to burn any calories.

I am so discouraged!  I have been eating well and exercising (not quite as much as I should but still) and the scale is not going down at all!  It's really frustrating and is killing my motivation to get out and do my run today.

Ugh.  Growl.  Roar.

How's everyone else doing?

I'm still 8 pounds up, but I have to imagine some of that are my enormous boobs!!!  Hungry baby.

What's bothering me these days is the looseness and general wigglyness of the skin. I just bought a compression belly belt.  6 weeks out.  We'll see if it makes any difference. I do feel better when I'm wearing it- makes Finn lighter since I don't have to brace my abs so much, and I feel more upright. I haven't worn it to sleep yet, I may try tonight. But breastfeeding while wearing it can be difficult.

I haven't started to do any real cardio- I can still only barely make it through a basic 20 minute yoga (when the baby lets me put him down!).

Good luck everyone, sorry you're hitting plateaus.  Sending skinny thoughts your way!

Another couch to 5ker here! I did it after my first one too and it was great. I skipped the 1st week and just finished w2 today. My weight's not going anywhere though:( I feel like I'm always gonna have this belly! All my tanks are tight too, so I've been wearing my babe a lot to hide it;)

Hi everyone

I'd like to join in im TTC so I'd like to loose some of the xtra weight I have taken over the years before about 35 lb before I add pregnancy weight to that cause I'm not sure I'll be able to loose more than 40 lbs. so if I can loose 10 now that will be wonderful for me.

I know!  I forgot about that extra benefit of babywearing :)  Also helps stretch my closet a little further since it doesn't really matter what I'm wearing under my wrap!

My good news is that it looks like I may actually be down a lb.  I'm hoping once things start moving they'll keep going.  I have tried replacing some of that ice cream with alternatives... the milk didn't cut but yogurt was a good idea (thanks Hildare).  I've also been having coconut ice bars-- portion control and much less sweet.

How's everyone else doing... weight and in general?

I gained two lbs! The weather has been really up and down lately, but we finally had a beautiful day yesterday so I took ds out for a really nice long walk through the hilly parks nearby, which felt really good. I'm hoping that we will stop having random snow storms soon so I can get out more.

I still have 15 to get back to pre-pregnancy weight (down from the 43 I gained).I've been trying to workout in the evenings when dh is home, but it's just not working. So yeah the baby-wearing is most of my workout. We go out every day and walk around our property which has a nice little hill.

Our food is pretty good already so not a lot to change that would make a big difference. I've been doing smoothies for breakfast (second the Cabot Greek yogurt here!) instead of a bread product and dessert most nights is a chocolate square.

I know they say it took 9 months to put it on and it can take that long to get it off, but I'd really like to be able to wear something besides maternity clothes or yoga pants.
