Ok I ended up making a newborn diaper tonight too. (the brown one) Very busy day!

It's a fitted pocket. The white diaper is what I used for a template. It's an AIO called Wonderworks Babyco.

Alternating tab snaps make it super adjustable

Baby blanket... finished!  I'll try to get a pic up soon.  It's not perfect, but I like how it turned out.

On to the next... I'm thinking a sleep sack with arms, not sure what you call those.  :)

I just got some fabric today to make some fitted crib sheets and a dust ruffle. I made some belly bands this morning because my pants no longer fit!

What kind of fabric did you use? Last time I could only find a polyester/spandex mix, and I hated it. This time I found a stretchy cotton that is much more comfortable with the heat we get here during half of the year.

Yes, what fabric did you use :-)  I have some that I purchased but they keep working their way up  and I spend most of the time adjusting them back down.

I just got some jersey knit. I had the same problem last time with the purchased ones because they're so slippery. If the problem happens this time though, I'll just hand stitch them to my pants like I did last time.

I'm finishing a knitted sleep sack I started making around this time in my pregnancy for DD ( redface.gif can't believe I didn't finish it, literally, I have maybe three inches left to knit- I got sidetracked and started making her a sweater).  So... I'll finish that.  Today I'm heading to a new yarn store that just opened near me in the hopes of finding something nice to make a new blanket for this baby.

I'm staying with my parents in Canada for a while, so my mom and I have been working on baby clothes. We made some bunting bags and a little dress for my niece who was born in Guatemala while I was away. We also are making a dress just in case ours is a girl and a few overalls that will work for a boy or a girl. I don't have a sewing machine back home, so am trying to take advantage!!

And I'm working on another hat/sleep sack set, but a different style... sleep sack #2 is just a sack shape and fits snug under the armpits... good for going under swaddle blankets.  :)

Pay no attention to how badly my carpet needs vacuuming.  ;)

Anyone know where I can get cone yarn at a decent price? I inherited my grandmother's knitting machine, and it is a shame to have it gathering dust. I haven't tried it out yet because cone yarn is getting harder to find.

I'd say using a coupon at Joann's or Michael's, but I don't know if you can get cone yarn there. Maybe ebay?

So cute Dandy Lion! The last two at the very least seem gender neutral to me. It looks like you did a great job! What pattern is that?

The only cone yarn I have seen at Joanne or Michael's is 100% cotton, and I'm thinking a soft acrylic for a baby blanket.

I'm not nearly as crafty as I used to be, but my idle hands need something to do since I can't paint/stain/lift for our rennovations right now. :)

Saw these amazingly adorable booties on Pinterest. Looks like a fun, quick project so I got the pattern. Can't wait! They are so easy, I'll probably make a few in different sizes.

Also would be easy to crochet a strap over the middle and sew a button to make mary janes...

My grandma never learned to drive, so grandpa drove her a lot of the time. He repaired her machines, as well. (I have her beautiful Italian machine with an equally beautiful sewing desk at my dad's house.) He just kind of chuckled when I told him I couldn't find cone yarn anywhere. I wonder if she mail ordered some of it?

EDIT: I decided to have DH call his aunt that owns a drapery shop. I bet she can order it by the cone, and she's told me I can use her discount before. Maybe it'll be an excuse to go through her fabric stash. She does drapery for all the fancy schamncy people in the Bay area, so she has really expensive silks and what not. She told me whatever I want is mine, but usually I don't want to drive 1.5 hours each way for fabric. I'm wondering if she knows how to use the knitting machine, too. It looks pretty easy, but I haven't tried it out yet.

Love everyone's cute knits!  I don't knit, but can crochet a little...not fast enough to tackle any big projects!  I am working on sewing a "pirate" dress for DD's halloween costume.  Stupid pattern says "Easy", yet it has a lined bodice (complete with darts), gathers, lace, casing in sleeves for elastic, etc.  It might be easy, but it sure isn't quick!  And...it's going to be WAY too big for her.

After this, I am tackling some infant fitted diapers using the free Ottobre pattern, so we'll see how that goes.

What brand is the pattern? Some of them are seriously off with their sizing. I got a Vogue pattern to sew a maternity dress for my older sister when she was in our wedding. I went off of the measurements on the back of the package, and even left extra room for growth. Luckily I made a muslin and only did the bodice, because the size 10 dress came out to be closer to a size 0. I think Ottobre is a lot closer on their sizing if I remember right.

Oh well, the pirate dress will have to wait a year or two...totally huge.  I was making size 3, thinking then she would be able to wear sweats underneath (Halloween is cold here).  She inherited a Cinderella dress that her cousin wore last year, so that's what she will be wearing!

I ended up making a quick sample of the Ottobre diaper on Saturday, and let me just say, they must have some BIG "newborns" in Ottobre-land!  I'm thinking it's not worth messing with and this new little one can wear prefolds.  I don't see a huge advantage in the fitteds vs. a snappi'd prefold anyway.  I have had good luck with sizing on other Ottobre patterns (kids and women's from the magazines).
