Hmm, somehow I missed posting this yesterday!

Morning sickness has gotten a little better the past few days and I am hopeful I am on the upswing, then I have those moments of worrying everything is ok because I feel so good.  I just have to wait a couple hours and I am back to exhausted, hungry and nauseated.  DH's work was slow this past week which was such a huge blessing but yesterday it picked right back up, he didn't get home until 3am!  Needless to say, I was drained last night and ready for DS to go to bed.  DS has a cold but has still been sweet just super clingy and physical.

I am going to a baby shower tomorrow and I am finally getting excited because it is starting to feel more real.  I will be 9weeks on tuesday! yay!  How is everyone doing?  I read through everything but rarely get a chance to post a response to everyone.

Yay new week! Buying a doppler has been really great for my confidence in this pregnancy, and accordingly we've told just about everyone except family (DH's mom knows though) and facebook. Next week we have our first ultrasound and we'll make it FB official then. DD is really getting used to the idea of what all this means. There's lots of "you have a baby in your belly!" and "I touch the baby?" while rubbing my belly. It's super cute.

DH's sleep apnea has gotten dramatically worse lately, so we're not sleeping much. On the nights I do get a decent amount of sleep I feel so great that I almost don't feel pregnant. It's amazing what sleep deprivation does.

Also food aversion have arrived! With DD if I so much as took a bit of banana I was instantly barfing. This time it's raw milk. Ah well.

hmm the main thing I can choke down right now is tuna with pickles and mustard.  I had a few days of feeling a lot better and then now I really don't.  Maybe it had to do with the chiro?  She did something to my stomach and I felt good for two days! oh well. Desperately trying to get in protein but hard because I don't really eat meat.

sunflwrmoonbeam- yay for feeling peaceful about your baby and heartbeats!  I really want to hear mine. my appt this month is an interview and I am hoping if it goes well I can slip a listen in?  we will see!

Physically I have been feeling pretty good recently.  No strong MS and, this time around, no strong food aversions as of yet.  On the other hand I'm feeling pretty detached from this pregnancy.  Last time I had an early scan at 8 weeks because I was already scheduled to have a cyst looked at, so I got to see the heart beat which was reassuring.  This time around there are no such plans.  I have had some odd and vivid dreams, but no dreams of baby yet whereas last time I was dreaming about the baby by now.  I haven't been telling anyone new and don't feel the desire to either really.  I think I'll feel a bit better once I go to my first midwife appointment on the 13th.

I have been feeling much better this past week. I am still tired, but it is not debilitating. My sister got married Saturday, so I spent 3 days helping her set up and get things ready. We have not told yet, and it was almost good to have something to distract me from myself.

DH worked a few days last week, and I was able to care for the children and get everyone fed. He starts back full time with students this week, so it is back to reality.

The nausea has lessoned and I am wanting to eat, but I am not exactly craving broccoli. I want to eat food that I don't have to cook. DH took the kids to his parents' on Friday, so I picked up fried chicken for myself on the way home. I need to not do that all the time!

We were really thinking we would share the news after the wedding, but now that the time is here, I don't really want to. I have an appt. next Monday with my family practice office to have them order some bloodwork for me. I am going to ask the NP to check for heart tones. I'll only be 9wks2days, so I don't know if she will be able to find them. If she does, we will probably talk after that.

I have  had some of those moments where I get nervous because I don't feel awful, but then something will smell terrible, and I will feel like I am okay again. The nausea can be validating. I haven't had a speck of blood, so I don't have too much to worry about, but I still do.

flavorfull-I think I will have tuna for lunch. Sounds good!

i thought tuna was one of the mercury fish that pregnant women should stay away from

i'd choose wild salmon instead~chock full of omega3's and really low in environmental toxins.

i found out yesterday that my sil just lost a baby to anencephaly. greensad.gif i didnt even know that they were trying to get pregnant. She has infertility issues and a myriad of health problems. I feel so bad for her. Had bad dreams last night after googling anencephaly (dont do it!) I'm trying not to freak out about it~it's really super rare. So sad. greensad.gif

the tuna is fine in smaller quantities and you always want to go with the chunk light instead of all white to decrease the mercury amount.  It matters most the type of tuna and how much you have in a week. Salmon is a great alternative as well, I just can't stomach it right now, too sweet.

moss- I am sorry about your sil, it is really hard to not internalize those fears. I have had two friends with first and second trimester losses in the past month and it has put me on edge. Hugs to you mama, it is sad and just hard to understand.

So this was bugging me, the tuna response I made wasn't meant to be snarky, that is just from what I have read and understood. I think there are worse things out there to eat, it is good to be cautious with tuna, I do make sure I limit the amount I have in a week. Thanks for pointing it out.

funny about the tune, that's what I just ate, the only thing in the house I thought I'd be able to stomach, but now I think I need to lay down and digest.

I am annoyd with needing to eat, and tired and I want to clean my house but I never have the energy to finish or a decent amount of time before I need to throw up. Looking forward to the 2nd trimester.

I napped from 1 to 3 today. The sick was just getting to be too much. Luckily, I felt better when I woke up, but now I need to eat. There isn't anything that looks good, and my hubby is out of town til tomorrow so I can't send him for anything. Now the question is, is it worth it to load all the littles into the car to head to the store? You know what sounds good? Peanut butter cups. Maybe some chicken.

moss, so sorry about your SIL.  I have a "family history of neural tube defects" too...it gets to you, even though you know the chances of it being YOU are really low.

courtney, I hear ya on waiting on the 2nd tri. And I've only got one to manage... are the older 2 back to school now, or is that this week?  I've been cherishing my afternoon naps with DD.

flavorful1, not snarky, don't worry.  What about hard boiled eggs for protein?  I eat the white and like half the yolk...  And thanks for doing the chat thread, btw.  If you get tired of it let us know and someone else will take over, I'm sure!

hazelbranch, I felt differently with DD too--I think its okay.  We've got a long time to be pg and get acquainted with the new LOs, and it just can't ever be quite the same as with the first, right?

vivica, is it the whole egg or just the yolk that bothers you?  The yolk bugs me too. The only other salty thing I can think of is some sort of jerky, although I'm not sure about the type they sell in the snack food aisle.  My SIL makes her own, and we get that occasionally.  Any chance you could try something like that?  Or maybe nuts?

sunflwr, I feel your pain on the sleep apnea.  DH had it awful for years, then he had his tonsils/adnoids/uvula removed, and it improved some.  But yeah, some nights I feel like I spend the entire night telling him to roll over or stop snoring. irked.gif

Mom2SJ, I'm craving junk too.  I'm going to kill DH if he brings anymore "treats" home.  Today he's working overnight so DD and I got one of those roaster chickens.  Definitely hit the spot!

As for me, mostly just tired all morning and annoyed that I'm either starving or over full.  I've tried eating small amounts through the day, but I end up just eating all day.  Or I eat a decent sized meal and feel stuffed for 2 hours, then am starving again.  Like tonight, I had 1/4 of an average-sized roasted chicken and a glass of water, and I feel way over stuffed.  Grr. Hopefully this part ends soon.

justKate - whenever I see your avatar picture of your daughter, I think of my own red-haired daughter.  :)  Do you or your husband have red hair?  My husband and I both have darker hair and I get asked all the time where the "red hair comes from."  LOL  I wonder if #2 will also be a red haired child.

hazelbranch: I'm a lighter brunette and my husband is a dark brunette, but we both have red undertones and he has a red beard. I also have a red headed uncle and 2 red headed cousins, AND my paternal genes are really dominant (my dad's side of the family all looks pretty much identical for 4 generations now; my daughter looks like me I look like dad he looks like his dad...A LOT). Consequently I know I'm at a high risk for a red haired baby with my face, and have made sure to mention to my in-laws about the family history of redheads. I just don't want any milkman comments.

But yeah, so hoping this one's a redhead :)

I have dark brown hair with red highlights and my husband is a light brown with red in the beard too, but he's adopted so we don't know anything about his background.  My closest red haired relative is my maternal grandfather, so red hair was way off my radar!

I got the "where does the red hair come from" comment so much that I was starting to get pretty irritated about it. irked.gif  One time I got asked if I was my daughter's mother (*sniff*), and when I said yes the lady (at the park) said "oh, she must get her hair colour from her dad".  So I pointed out my husband a few feet away and the lady turned to me with a distinctly concerned look on her face and asked me where" the red hair comes from then?"  I was really tempted to tell her that I had a really hot mailman in hush-hush tones just to see what her reaction was! LOL  Sometimes I just said "it comes from back in the (family) tree" and then get confused faces again.  I think next time I'll just jump into a genetics lesson.  mischievous.gif

There is no way in the world to figure out where red hair comes from. I mean, it comes from the Vikings (who did a great job of raping and pillaging many different countries) and is probably in your family somewhere. I have red hair and nobody in my family has it other than a cousin. I apparently got it from my great-grandfathers on both sides of my family. My mom always joked that I got hit from both sides and didn't have a chance. :)

My son had strawberry blonde hair when he was born and I was really hoping for a redhead, but alas, he is a super blondie. People kind of wonder where he comes from as well...he has blonde hair and blue eyes. I have red hair and brown eyes and my SO had dark brown hair and brown eyes. We hit all parts of the color spectrum in this house! I have absolutely no expectations for this next babe. We could get anything!

hazel I think you should totally go for the it was the milkman, it would just be so hilarious, but I love that kind of stuff. I am pretty tempted to say I'm hoping for a hermaphrodite the next time someone asks if we are praying for a boy.

so what are everyone's other kids saying about your pregnancy? This morning my 2 1/2 year old woke up and the third thing she said was "HI" to "her baby"

My 8 year old when asked what she thought about the baby said z"it's a good thing because when the baby cries the rest of us can go sneak sugar"

and my 5 year old just wants twin girls.

My ms has backed off a little, too. Thank goodness!

I unpacked all my maternity clothes yesterday. I can barely fit in my regular clothes, which is unfortunate since we're not telling yet. We almost told all the kids friday night - dd and her husband were over and ds was home from college, but my dh just couldn't bring himself to say it ; ) He's still trying to work through the shock.

My dd is due today. We'll tell after she has the baby, I guess. Until we tell everyone it just seems surreal. I'm pretty sure my 14yo has guessed, but he'd rather die than say anything. He's noticed me eating and sleeping all the time. Plus, he notices when I 'don't feel well.'

I was going to order some clearance clothes from Motherhood yesterday, but took an inventory of my maternity clothes and decided not to. I have a better maternity wardrobe than regular wardrobe! I guess that says I've been pregnant a lot over the last six years. Yep, did the math - I've been pg. 43 out of the last 72 months! Ack! Good thing I enjoy being pregnant!

My DD has red hair, DH and I are both brunnettes, but he has red in his beard.  My mom was a redhead, and DD looks just like her @ this age.  So when ppl ask, I answer one of 2 ways, depending on my mood and how they ask me:

1.  It comes from Grandma.

2.  I've narrowed it down to the poolboy or the mailman, but I can't rule out the pizza guy, either.  Still waiting on the jerks to submit to the court order.

The past three days I haven't been able to get off the couch and stand vertical without gagging, then I had some cottage cheese and egg salad (not together) last night before bed.  Today was so much better!!! Yay! Like I actually went grocery shopping!

My MIL consistently askes where my DS got his red hair.  He has redish blonde hair.  My paternal aunt has red hair, maternal great grandfather, and the kicker is....my mom has red hair (she knows her) and HER HUSBAND used to have red hair!! I brought up one time that it was probably from my mom and her husband and she just looked shocked and said "he doesn't have red hair!"  Um, ok all of his pictures up until they were married he had red hair and when it started greying he started dying it brown.  I think she honestly forgot.  So weird.  Even after that conversation she will ask.  She has issues anyway but this just makes me really wonder what she is asking  headscratch.gif

DS is 19 months and keeps coming up to my tummy and saying Hi baby!  and then he will kiss my tummy.  It is adorable and totally unsolicited other than the first time we told him.  It is cute too when he will pull up his own shirt when I ask where the baby is and then laugh and run up to my tummy.  He caught on faster than I thought he would!

Itsasecret, congrats on your soon to be grandbaby!  How fun that they will be close!  My BIL and his niece are close in age and he liked it.  People make weird comments but seems like people do that regardless of any situation.

Geez, the redhead comments!  My MIL had very bright strawberry blonde hair, and I did as a kid, so I'm sure she comes by it rightly, but geez.  I mean, I'm pale with lighter hair (like sunflwr's color), so it's really not a stretch.  The funny part is when DH has her alone--he's always getting comments about her not belonging to him, because he is very dark--mostly mexican/italian.  eyesroll.gif  I hope this one is dark because I really worry about sun exposure and I hated being pale as a kid.

Itsasecret, how exciting to have a grandbaby and a new baby so close!  I think it will be great to have an automatic playmate.

We haven't told DD about the new baby yet, even though she's 2.5 and not the type to be bothered.  I guess I don't really have any reason TO tell her, and I want her to be the center of the world for a little longer....and really telling her won't make any difference, so we'll wait at least until we tell the rest of the world.  Right now only my parents and my best friend know.

HI everyone, I'm struggling with the ms right now too.  I'm very much looking forward to the second trimester.  Funny, I also can stomach tuna and not much else!  I thought that was a strange thing but I guess it's more common than I thought.  My husband also has a red beard and was a redhead as a child, I'm so hoping that this baby has red hair! I'm very blond and so is DS so we'll see.  My hubby also has curly hair which I would love to see on our little girl.  We'll see =)

Yay for those who are getting their mojo back. Hopefully you guys still dealing with MS and other not-niceness will soon be in the clear.

I just have to say I LOVE MY BeBand (target's knock off of bella band). I wore a pair of pants today that I shouldn't have, but I didn't realize they were so uncomfortable until after I left the house. Swung by target, put on the band, and voila, PERFECT! banana.gif

Married to my favorite man in '07. Our firstborn came along in April 2012 (HBC), and our second is on the way, due sometime in May 2014 (planning an HBAC).

Christy yay for 8 weeks!

the funny thing is I even puked up breakfast but still felt fine. I've gotten loads done today, I even cleaned the high chair with a toothbrush, it just wouldn't come clean with a rag. turns out the wood needs to be refinished so I guess I'll need to sand it and repaint it.

itsasecret, I'm with justkate, getting a grandbaby is exciting and I'd love to hear about it when it happens.

Courtney and Cree, baby made 3, added one more then there were 4, sakes alive, then we had 5, another in the mix now we have 6!

I threw my back out! OMG. It's exccruciating.

My hugely pg. dd came over today to help with the littles. I feel so bad. If she goes into labor while I'm down I won't be much help!

Thanks, Courtney!

Itsasecret, Yay for the grandbaby, definately want to hear more about that!  I'm sorry about your back.  DH's goes out from time to time, and the only thing that seems to help is going back and forth between ice packs and heat pads.  hug2.gifI hope you are feeling better soon!!

I'm @ work alone this morning, which is fine, until I have to pee, lol.  inthet.gif
