Yesterday, I packed in my husband's lunch a Lara Bar whose first ingredient was cashews...he is allergic to peanuts, pistachios and cashews. Thankfully cashews are the least horrible of all the reactions. Just a little face swelling and copious mucous drainage, and maybe hot flashes and blurred vision.
Then, this morning, I pulled a pan with potatoes and eggs off a burner to put under the broiler. Apparently I threw the oven mitt on to the hot burner after I did this and ran to grab laundry. Oven mitt was smoking but did not catch flame. Then, when I checked on the eggs a couple of minutes later, I did it again with another oven mitt. It took me even longer to realize that this one was burning because I thought that I was smelling the first mitt. Why I would put a mitt on the stove top in the first place is a mystery to me!
My pregnancy brain has been dangerous this weekend...and expensive as we lost a half day of pay at time and a half and now I need to replace those damn oven mitts.
