I'm having an issue with my DS used-to-retract-fully penis.  He had a slight infection a couple months ago(treated with virgin coconut oil) and it seems that since then, his foreskin has gotten tighter and he no longer can "pull it back."  We've gone to the doc, who (of course)gave us an Rx for steriod cream.  I don't feel good using that and was wondering if anyone had any theories...  I don't think it's phimosis, but then again, I'm not sure.  I am currently attributing it to not playing so much with it since the infection happened, thus it's lost some of the stretchy-ness??  What would you mamas do at this point?  I'm trying so hard to get to the bottom of this without him becoming paranoid about touching/not-touching himself!

Do you think you're so worried because he's recently gotten over an infection?  I believe I've read here before about penises (peni?) that were once retractable but are no longer retractable.  Since his penis hasn't fully matured yet, if it were me, I'd work not to worry about it.  He does not have a need at his age for it to retract.  Steroid cream, I believe, is only meant for those who are past the beginning of puberty, or the cream will work (possibly) while it's being applies but then would stop working once the application of the cream stopped.

It's hard not to worry.  He's lucky you've allowed him to keep his foreskin!  Has he had any complaints about it?

Best wishes,

Sus
