My son is 2 years old and intact. Last night when my husband was changing his diaper he noticed that the base (where the penis meets his body, not the tip) of our son's penis was really red. We cleaned it really well and put some A & D on it hoping it would clear up overnight. He has never had this happen before. He has occasionally had some redness on the tip which applying the A&D gets rid of right away. Well, it is still red this morning and it hurts when touched. I let him soak in a warm bath for a while to see if that would help. It doesn't seem to bother him unless it is being touched during a diaper change... Is there anything else I can try to put on it? Wait and see if it gets better? I just don't know if it could be an infection of some sort? Really don't want to have to go to the Doctor because I'm sure they will prescribe antibiotics... Any suggestions? Thanks!
Nothing like when our kiddos are not 100%.
I would give him some diaper free time too. Does it look like yeast( diaper rash) you could use a little thyme mixed it a carrier oil. That's what I would do and continue the soak maybe with some Epsom salts.
