I am considering giving my 11 month old cod liver oil.  Do you recommend this?  And what is the safety of giving cod liver to an infant? I'm interested in the EFA's and the Vit's A & D for her.  Some sources say that vit A can be toxic.  But it is mainstream information, so i'm not sure of that.  I have heard conflicting information.  I would appreciate your advice.  Thank you!

Also, can you suggest dosages for a 20 pound +  baby?

Have you talked to your health care provider about this? I think that would be best as he or she will have a bigger picture of your baby's needs and health.

Giving fish oil or cod liver oil is safe as long as it is from a reputable company (Carlson, Nordic Naturals, etc) and not from a drug store or warehouse store. The dosage for EPA and DHA is at least 400 mg each. More is fine. I would not worry about excess vitamin A or D in fish oil supplements.
