Also be careful about the difference between metals, and metal compounds (or salts). Any aluminium or mercury in vaccines is typically in a compound. This makes a big difference to its chemical properties.
The typical everyday example is the difference between chlorine (hugely dangerous to humans) and sodium chloride (table salt, also dangerous, but only in very large amounts).
