My daughter had an iron test and the number for total iron was 7.7 (range = 9 - 21.5), and the ferritin was in the range. Some of my other children also have low iron.

The dr. wants her to have 6 mg. of iron daily. She weighs 14 lbs. Should I start? I currently do not have meat to boost that way.

She nurses quite often, and started eating whole foods 2 months ago. No formula or other milk.

Thanks

I was so worried. It all turned out fine! You don't seem worried though just thought there may be ideas from these other mamas!

Follow up: I gave her the iron, and iron rich foods. I also did a biomagnetic treatment, and the practitioner found that my 2 children with low iron had either a virus or bacteria eating the red blood cells. It worked. Both my kids are with normal iron, hgb, and ferritin.

My four year old son was anemic from age 1, and no matter what iron or dose, it didn't become normal until this treatment.  I'll retest in a year too see how it's doing then.

Thanks.

molasses?

Vitamin C helps the absorption of iron.

I used to put molasses in OJ and drink it down.
