I need help.  After about two weeks of successfully wearing underwear with very few accidents, we're now on day 8 of no poops in the potty, and peeing in the potty only if I insist he go or if he's supposed to be in bed.  He's 2 3/4 years.  Is this much regression normal?  Do we just keep dealing with accidents?  Do we go back to diapers and try again later?  If we go back to diapers after having told him he was done with them, does that hurt our credibility when we try again?  I know I'm making too much of this and probably either option is okay - he *will* learn to use the potty within a year or two if not sooner - but any insights would be welcome.

Married to C August 2007.  Son Ian born October 2008.  Son Owen born December 2010.  Daughter Naomi born October 2012.

I think that once you get out of the diaper you can't go back. You just have to keep going.

I would keep him in undies too. If my older daughter taught me anything, it's that things (especially potty learning) aren't always linear with kids. They learn by leaps and bounds then have setbacks before gaining more skill. We've had many regressions but they are followed by more control and consistency. She knows the expectations and the new routine, she just isn't flawless at it. I wouldn't make a big deal about it since that can lead to power struggles or even withholding. I just pack more spare clothes when leaving the house
