This is my first child and we are almost done potty training!!! When she does have accidents on the floor, that doesn't bother me that much.. But what is driving me crazy is the urine smell. I clean up the carpet where it happens, but the smell lingers. I've tried hot soapy water, vinegar, lysol spray and a spray specific for urine (however its for animal, yet i figured it May work) I don't know what else to try. She doesn't do it very often either. Please help :(
We haven't dealt with this yet but I do have two dogs and we use Nature's Miracle which is an enzymatic cleaner to remove the smell (otherwise one of them is tempted to reuse the spot to potty in again if she can smell it). I figure if a dog nose can't smell it then it's probably pretty much gone. For stains I don't find it that great so I use Oxiclean (but I do the Nature's Miracle first), mixed up according to the "carpet stain" instructions on the container.
I agree with the enzymatic cleaner idea! We use Bac-Out spray, which is enzymatic. We also have an old, inexpensive rug in the living room that I would love to replace but I'm just letting it stay there until we're done with this phase.
