Getting urine smell out of carpets and furniture

My newly 2 year old son loves to pee as soon as his diaper or pants come off. Does anyone have any good homemade recipes that I could mix up in a spray bottle and use to clean up?

We put white vinegar in a spray bottle and use it on the spot after cleaning up the urine.

I put baking soda on the spot too after the vinegar to absorb any lingering odors.

I would suggest moth balls, but you have a little one who might eat them. I use the moth balls for a pet accidents to keep them away from returning to the spot.

Thanks for the replies folks, I will try the straight up vinegar with a touch of some essential oil to cheer up the smell.
Baking soda, of course, makes a lot of sense; it absorba odor so well.
I have a recipe for a fabric spray made from witch hazel that I am meaning to make, and I imagine that will freshen things up further.

You can soak citrus peels in the vinegar, makes it smell less like pickles.

You can go to the pet store and get Natures Miracle, but rubbing alcohol works wonders too.

Repeat bac-out three times. King of pee. Worth the expense.
