What is your family situation? I'm a stay-at-home, rural-as-rural-gets, waldorf-ish homeschooling mama to 5 kids age almost 6 to 14. 2 I gave birth to 2 myself and 3 are step-loves, living with us permanently as of 3 years ago when dh's first wife, their mom, enrolled in rehab, and then “broke all contact with her past.” I am also very pregnant—it’s a boy!!! My husband has been doing odd jobs and selling firewood ever since being laid off from a “good” job a few years ago.... A funny: This year DH has been trying to sell all the firewood he can to keep us afloat, and just figured out that our own remaining supply of firewood is a very small, very green (i.e., not seasoned enough to sell for dollers=hard to burn!) pile, so I’m trying to imagine gearing for a colder than usual winter—going to need wool socks and blankets I guess! I know I should have learned to knit, doh! What’s that old saying about the shoemaker’s children going barefoot…? Slightly daunting as our house relies on wood heat, but still, the no-firewood-for-the-fam-of-the-firewood-salesman situation makes me chuckle (okay, snicker) and will someday in easier times make a funny story.! Anyway~~! I contribute by selling eggs and little products I can make from our little group of rescued (as in, I got them for free from shelters and have nurtured them back to health and productivity!)  small farm animals. Hopefully this year I will learn to make soap. Money is so scarce. We cut corners everywhere until they are all circles. And use all of the hard core frugality tips and self-sufficiency stuff since dh’s “good” job possibility seems to have permanently left our county, so it’s firewood/odd jobs/selling little things for the foreseeable future.  But in spite of all we still have a cozy, joyful family life. One son is on the autism spectrum, one daughter suffers from an anxiety disorder (night time panic attacks…), one child has a speech impediment that seems to be anxiety-related, but everyone loves each no matter what so I'm a grateful mama. They all love to read around the fire, love arts and crafts together, love hanging out /helping out in the kitchen, and LOVE Christmas time traditions…Thank you for your abundance of holiday spirit in wanting to help a family like ours. I hate to ask for my own sake but am grateful to be able to for the sake of my “Fav’ Five” as I love to call them (3 of them still believing in Santa, too!)…Soon to be “Sweet Six!” wink1.gif

Any allergies or sensitivities in the family (e.g. cat, dog, smoke)? No… well, dislike for cigarette smoke

Which holiday(s) does your family celebrate? Christmas, Solstice

Child #1:

Age and gender: almost 6, male
Items requested:

1.this guy doesn’t write yet so didn’t exactly do a Santa letter, so lots of wiggle room on his gifts. I’d love him to have a used pentatonic instrument such as recorder or kinderharp—needs this for his kindergarten homeschool music studies, but I know these can be expensive, just throwing out a long shot in case anyone has one second hand collecting dust…If too obscure, knex/lego (but not duplo—he thinks are for babies) sets are an easier idea… item sent :o

 2. Waldorf art supplies, such as a jar holder/wood painting board like or item sent :o

3. any toy or handmade item/clothing item related to Yo Gabba Gabba , especially the robot, here’s one idea: or item sent :o

Child #2:
Age and gender:12, female
Items requested:

1.This child loves to try and cook meals from scratch, and flour is the most affordable ingredient I give her free access to, so it would be wonderful and she would be so pleased if someone has a second hand pasta maker similar to this: Or of course another food prep item would be enjoyed if no one has one of these to pass on. item sent :o

 2. something like this for my fabric arts loving lass, a larger lap loom,

3.  a fabric crafts kit to make an advent calendar such as the one buy Bucilla (a started, opened, or even used, completed one like on etsy/Magic Cabin would be a treat just as much!) item sent :o

Child #3

Age and gender: 9, male

Items requested:

1.asked Santa for this (or similar) wind up robot: item sent :o

 2. asked Santa for this or something like this, remote control boat (our one saving grace is that the kids have one permanent cool toy—the weedy old pond down the hill!)

3. ANY toy or clothing/handmade item having anything to do with (not scary) robots, maybe like: item sent :o

Child #4

Age and gender: 14, female

1. something like this, , djembe or doumbek drum (she has done middle eastern dance on her own for years, and now wants to learn the drumming component to the art). Anyone have one no one uses anymore…?

2. Small Tibetan signing bowl: She’s fascinated by Tibetan culture, plus she’s done yoga for years, and is experimenting w/teaching it to little groups,  and mentioned wanting one of these so she can chime it before and after her classes to be holding a more authentic feeling  yoga class for her siblings and friends, one example… Maybe someone has one laying around collecting dust? item sent :o

3. natural beauty/hair/complexion care supplies…she has acne and likes to wear very light make-up (opened or partially used it okay!) and always needs pretty things to keep her lots and lots of hair “back” lol    item sent :o

Child #5

Age and Gender: 7, male

1. asked Santa for this  Zoku quick pop maker (only this boy would want Santa to bring a popsicle maker in the middle of winter!, he saw one at a friend’s house), some are on this page: item sent :o

2. maybe an accessory for the Zoku quick pop maker, like on this page… item sent :o

3. maybe another Zoku pop accessory, OR (and this goes for all of these suggestions 1,2, and 3!) if Zoku thingies not do-able, any similar fun-with-food product  that he could work himself with just a little help… item sent :o

Child #6

Age and Gender: pregnancy: due date in January, male

1. Baby monitor with a several receivers so he will be safe when I lay him down to tend the other 5! item sent :o

2. Used baby hammock type hanging nap spot (no stand needed, our house has strong beams for mounting it)  like “Cosynest”  or “Amby” for safer longer naps

3. A natural looking (can make sounds, though!) vibrating baby entertaining/calming seat, one example is: or anything similar where baby could sit happily and look at something while I get everything else done! item sent :o

Adult #1 (YOU! ):
Gender: Female
Items requested:

1. Supplies for our surprise new baby coming such as cloth diapers (am familiar with fuzibunz type fleecy/pocket dipes, but could learn a different method!), gear, etc--after last babe I gave everything away, whoops!) or any nursing helpers for newborn nursling, like … items sent :o

2. an oversized, chunky, maybe cable knit throw for the living room in a natural color like beige to counteract cold cold house…Something like this one… item sent :o

3. a craft supply item—am an interested beginner in areas like wool felting, folksy furniture stenciling/painting, and soap making…A soap mold like this would be amazing: item sent :o

Adult #2:
Items requested: of these crab traps would be amazing, maybe someone has an old one?, we could use it to supplement our income as our area has a really long crab season, 2 examples: item sent :o

2. a second hand, 8 by 10 or portrait sized digital photo frame (let’s face it, I am never going to have time/money to order prints of our zillion family photos and put them in real albums, maybe with a digital photo frame the kids can still have a chance to become familiar with all of their own baby pics, etc…)

3. we need natural fiber bed sheets in various sizes, any except single size… item sent :o

Needs for Your Family As A Whole:

Items requested:

1. a second hand cell phone and cards with prepaid minutes (we can’t afford a cell phone bill/contract but I’d love one for emergencies/infrequent needs like wife driving home after dark on our bad mountain roads—would love her to be able to call home if car trouble, etc!) item sent :o

2. Gift cards for xmas morning and other day to day needs would be amazing of course! gift cards,,,, or amazon are extra useful… item sent :o

Of the items requested above, please prioritize the top 3 overall needs of your family:
1) Gifts for Xmas morning….I’m so stressed about them having a real Christmas!  Gently used is SO okay, we’ve only ever shopped in thrift stores for years now so expectations of new-ness are nonexistent around here!
2)Gift cards
3) Supplies for our surprise new baby

A deep thank you to all the beautiful Holiday Helpers out there...
