An article I appreciated...you may as well.

http://www.mothering.com/articles/th...of-in-between/

Just in case you have not read this, you might enjoy it. It gives name to that place in between fully pregnant and the onset of labor, the place we all eventually get to where we can just barely take it anymore. I can identify with this from my last pregnancy. Not quite there, but I bet it is right around the corner.

Mama to 4yo dd Piper, loving wife to Dave and preggo for the second time...due in Early July!  Hurray!

Thanks for posting.

I like the reference of a woman going to the edge of her being before the birthing begins. Perfect description!

Oh, that's so where I am right now! It's been extra long this time, since we've been told over and over that the babies will come early and here we are getting close to 'on time' and I'm huge and kind of done but not done with everything, but trying really hard to be ok with as much as we've gotten finished, in case things go into motion and this is as far as we get. It's nice to have a word to put to it!

She's here!
And so are the boys!

Love the German word 'zwischen' and how it describes the in between time.

Love how different languages are able to capture essences better than the English. I'm particularly fond of German everything-food, beer, language, recycling programs, maternity leave. My favorite German word is wanderlust!

Sorry, got a bit off topic. Good article.

I sure enjoy my maternity leave which comes with a full pay-check as well until 8 weeks after having given birth.

I kind of like how German words got integrated like zugzwang, to spritz, to schlepp, kaputt. It sometimes is pretty funny sounding.

For the past couple of days I have been trying to think about a bumper sticker phrase that comes up with a way to convey my support for using tax dollars for maternity/paternity leave rather than drone strikes. I was thinking something like, "Babies, Not Drones," but then I couldn't think up a cute quip to convey the rest of my message.

Also, I tried to get my husband to name our son Otto. He said no, haha.

One of my most favorite quotes is "Life is short. Tell someone you love them. But shout it at them in German, because life is also terrifying and confusing."
