Happy home birth and it is a ...

BOY! So excited! I guess we have a June Baby afterall. Born an hour before midnight on the 30th. Weighing in at 8.5 lbs with 20.8 inches quite a heavy baby again. It all started out with the mucus plug discharging and some discomfort. I was sorting laundry and thought it was from standing up too long and bending over. Then the contractions started slowly and about 10 -15 min. apart. Got the kids dinner and set them up for bed then called DH home from work and the mw. They both arrived around the same time. Took nice hot shower and got settled in. Mostly walking around. Mw checked baby's heart rate at some points and found it to be asleep during most of my labor. When she got here I was only at 6 cm and 3 hours later at 8 cm but then the amniotic sac burst and from there it was like 20 min. and 3 hard pushes through the ring of fire and baby boy was here. Now it is recovering with severe afterpains esp. when nursing but my uterus is already 3 days ahead of me. We are so happy and it was such a wonderful experience giving birth at home and being at home afterwards. Just love it and breast feeding has started off very well too. So hoping all of your births will go just as smooth and well.

Woohoo! Congrats. Sounds like you had a great birth. When you met him, did a name come to you? Too funny that he was asleep most of the time!

Congratulations!

What a wonderful and peaceful birth story. Thank you for sharing. I am glad everything went smoothly and that you are both doing well.

I don't look forward to those after pains. Thanks for reminding me to order some after ease like NOW! Lol

Congratulations!! Such a lovely birth story. You must have remained so calm and centered to allow your little one to sleep through most of it. So wonderful! Looking forward to name and pictures if/when you chose to share

Girl absolutely in love with boy and our DD (11/06), DS1 (08/11) and DS2 (brand new!)

We decided on the name a day before he was born. It was one that DH picked that at first I did not like at all but it grew on me and I picked his middle name. Worked out pretty well and when he arrived it seemed to fit perfectly.

Thank you all for the congratulations! It has been 4 wonderful days already with our little baby boy and the feelings are just overwhelming. I am thankful though that those afterpains are finally gone and breast feeding is coming along great since my milk kicked in yesterday.
