Have you done non hormonal iud? I was going to do that if we weren't done.
I've been thinking a lot about this. I think I will get a Mirena. The other option is that DH will have a vasectomy. But I'm not sure I'm ready to give up on having #3 - at least not within the next 3 weeks, which is when I need to decide.
Last time I waited until AF came back before deciding, but this kid sleeps too much for me to feel confident with LAM. After, I was on the mini-pill and had many of the same issues I've had with other types of hormonal birth control. I don't want a copper IUD because my periods are already extremely painful and they are known to increase cramping and heaviness of periods.
Yeah we have already gotten back into it for the last few weeks. I am a little nervous though because we haven't been using anything.... :/ I won't go back on birth control because my doctor said I am not allowed on it anymore since I have a blood clot issue (some kind of gene issue). So even though condoms stink that is what we would be using but my DH thinks that because I am nursing we should be fine, but I know that doesn't always mean anything. So I am kind of back and forth on it. I'm not crazy about getting pregnant again right away but at the same time wouldn't be disappointed. I just want to make sure my body is ready again first though. I don't have an easy time getting pregnant though so I probably don't have to worry. But we really should be using them.. lol
Ok sorry none of that helps you guys at all. I don't know much about all the different forms.
Happily married to my DH (05/06) and stay-at-home mom to a beautiful daughter (01/11), a handsome son (12/13) and three sweet angel babies (2/12, 11/12 and 12/14) and due Oct with another blessing.
I haven't really started to think about this yet but highly recommend the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". It is basically all about charting your cycles either for pregnancy achievement or prevention, but also shows you how to recognize health problems through your cycles (say, low thyroid function). There are good explanations of in what circumstances you can count on breastfeeding and when you can't, and clues to recognize your first ovulation (before that first period but when you can conceive, as I'm sure we all know!).
It's very thorough and I've really liked it... almost wish I had charted after my last birth just out of curiousity about the gradual return of cycles and fertility. (But who has the time and energy for that with a newborn??)
Anyway, my two cents, and Iona awakes.....
I've had a really rough time in the past with birth control pills and patch. I will not be using anything hormone-related this time. I am really considering the copper IUD. Who has used it? What did you like/not like about it?
