@Milk8shake , Congratulations! We overlapped slightly on the TTCAL boards a while back, but you probably don't remember me. (I was mostly a lurker and didn't come out until you had stopped posting over there.) I am so happy for you and hope all goes well this time. You have been through so much! Congrats again.

Happy to be joined by a fellow trouble maker I too will probably only go 37 weeks as well due to uterine rupture. We are bump buddies and birth buddies. !!!!!

Hey everyone! My name is Bridget. I'm 38 and expecting my 7th child in late Jan/early Feb. My others have been around the 37 week mark so I'm expecting baby 7 will probably follow along! I live near Yorktown, VA and I'm a homebirth midwife (CPM/LM). This will be my husband's first child and it took us around 5 months of TTC (digital OPKs, charting). My other children range in age from 18 down to 7.. 3 girls and 3 boys. We found out around 11 weeks that our baby is a boy and we're all very excited. (I had the Harmony test done).

I definitely plan to have another peaceful waterbirth at home. I have pics of my family on my business website at www.evahomebirth.com

I live on a small family farm that we're steadily getting more and more "settled". It has been a great project!

We found out today that baby is a boy! I'm happy but I'll admit I reaaaally wanted a girl and so did DH. I'm a little worried he's disappointed but oh well. I'm so in love with him already!
happyday8598's Avatar happyday8598 06:29 AM 09-13-2014
And you will love him even more when you meet him! I was hoping both of my boys were girls. Boo. But you know what? I got over it (RIGHT away, and then again) when we would hang out with girls... those toddler years!! I always felt so blessed to not have to listen to the whining and bossing that I would hear from every girl we would hang out with. Of course, now I DO want a girl, but only because I've done the boy thing twice already, and it would be sweet to experience the alternative.

Congrats on your newfound knowledge! How exciting, and another level for you to feel a connection from! Boys truly are wonderful, and adventurous and playful and sweet and soft and loving... It's what you put into them that help to mold them into lovely little people pals.
jodieanneanton's Avatar jodieanneanton 05:57 PM 09-13-2014
@bren94 , with my 3rd, I wanted another girl... BADLY. I was a mother of girls, I would say. I thought boys were scary. But you know what?!!? When number 3 came out a boy (we were surprised), I was overjoyed and I have such an amazing bond with him! He is so funny, sensitive and sweet. A very loving child. There is definitely something special between a mother and son, too, I have discovered.
dentonmidwife's Avatar dentonmidwife 07:04 AM 09-14-2014
I have three awesome boys. Each time, I wanted a girl. But I have quickly got over any disappoint. I have found with 2-4 that it has been easier to wait until baby is here on my emotions. You can't help but love them at that point.
sarahjs's Avatar sarahjs 03:16 PM 09-14-2014
The possibility of disappointment is one of the biggest reasons I don't want to find out what the baby is. I don't have a strong desire for either a boy or a girl and have pros and cons for both. I think it would be great for my husband to have a son, but I also wouldn't want to only have boys. I would like at least one girl, but then I also worry she will inherit my female issues. So either way, I will have at least a little bit of disappointment. That sounds awful, doesn't it?! I just want to stick to being surprised at birth and hope that there will be no room for any disappointment with a new baby in my arms.
Valerie11's Avatar Valerie11 03:45 PM 09-14-2014
I'm excited about either a boy or a girl, since I like the names I picked for each. I feel like I'll be more sad for the name I won't get to use than that I won't be having one or the other.

Congrats on your baby boy! We were convinced we were going to have a boy so it was a bit of a shock to find out girl on our end, but we weren't sad.. just kind of threw us off for a second. Now I couldn't be more excited to meet her.

I've been thinking this since you found out, you might want to check again at a followup ultrasound if you get one (not sure what your schedule/plan is with your OB/Midwife). I was just reading that the testicles don't descend until 18 weeks. Probably easier to say for sure it's a boy than for sure it's a girl, but then I don't know the circumstances of your ultrasound where you found out. Our routine ultrasound isn't until 22 weeks, so I'm guessing that as long as the baby cooperates, we will be sure by then. I would just hate for you to buy all girl stuff and OOPS, surprise! on the due date.

Thank you for your concern and we have our regular ultrasound with our ob/gyn at 19 weeks and will confirm gender. My husband's sister used the same place for all 3 of her kids and all 3 were correct so I feel pretty good but the sex of the baby really doesn't matter all that much to me as long as our baby is healthy. I have heard the opposite.. that both genders look swollen and that if it's a girl it's easier to tell since they can both look like boy. guess it depends on who you talk to ha ha.

I didn't think about genitals being swollen. I thought that was just something that happens during labor, but maybe it happens in utero. Interesting.

I have just entered your boat, Jodieanneanton! I'm expecting our first boy! From here on out, he is called my Kipper Snack (until I have a "real" name). When the tech showed me his itty bitty baby parts, I cried. I am so so happy he's looking great and healthy. And I'm so so scared that it is a boy. And it is so weird there is a penis GROWING inside me. Weird! (And juvenile that this thought is even in my head to begin with.) But I love him already and reading your experience is helping me relax some.

I know I haven't been on here much. I just found out that both of my twins are boys. I have an amazing two year old son. But I'm really really sad, we won't be having more kids so there is no chance of having a girl for me.

ha ha ha ha ha! @DuchessTergie , you made me literally laugh out loud at your "penis growing inside me" comment. How funny. Oh, it is wonderful to have a son. The only thing really scary about him is how much he eats! I am glad that my experience can help you know it is not as scary as you imagine. Except for the eating.

@iixivboots , I was JUST thinking about you yesterday! Thank you for sharing with us. I am sorry you are feeling sad. It is always disappointing when out expectations are not met. Gender disappointment is so much more common than many realize. But, almost always, it is cured at birth! Be gentle with yourself as you process your disappointment, but know that those special boys were given to you for a reason. I am sure they will bless you beyond belief!

Wow! Congratulations, everyone! My goodness, our boys outnumber our girls more than two to one right now. Good thing we've got plenty of Team Green mamas.

I'm finding out tomorrow... My gut tells me more and more that I'm going to tip the balance one little bit further toward the boys.
