Let me just start off by saying that I really cannot believe I'm asking this.

Any brilliant tips on successfully vomiting when you clearly really need to?

This morning was rough. I was absolutely fine in the car, but the minute I got out into the parking lot... Nope. Nope nope nope. Threw up a little tiny bit in the parking lot, told myself to get it together and at least get to a bathroom, actually had to swallow a little bit of vomit in the elevator (.....aaaauuuuggghhhh!), held back heaves all the way across the skywalk, dashed into the ladies' room, and then: Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Maybe I am just fooling myself and when the urge has passed, it has passed? I don't have a ton of experience with throwing-up morning sickness; this has certainly been my most intense pregnancy for that so far. And, prior to this pregnancy anyway, it's really rare for me to feel like I need to throw up and then not be able to. My usual non-pregnant m.o. is just to get it out and then I'll feel better. Perhaps the rules are just completely different, now?

So this is either a request for advice or a plea for sympathy, now I can't tell.

As the nausea has been getting slightly better, I will do one heave that will bring up a little bit of whatever I just ate/drank and then nothing. So maybe that's it, except instead of letting it out, you kept it in?

Four children. Just welcomed our newest member on 2/12!

I usually drink water and pace but I usually only puke if I also have a migraine. I don't have time to wait around for vomit. Get it over with so I can go eat and take care of my kids.

Aww....sorry you're having an icky morning Tee.

I have found in the past that really heavy coughing has helped me puke. Making myself cough deeply while bent over the lovely smelling toilet usually did it for me.

For me, something about bending over kills the urge. I'll be heaving, get to the toilet, bend over, and nothing. But if I immediately straighten back up, I heave again. So that's my personal trick.

I've noticed oddly that the first two weeks of nausea were constant and hellish, but no puke. Now the nausea has eased up and is intermittent, but when it comes on it hits like a train and makes me puke. I had forgotten all about it, but this happened with DS too. I'll take the random puking over constant nausea any day.

Agreed, random puking over constant nausea. I vote for that.

Thanks, y'all, for the tea and sympathy, and for the good ideas. I am definitely going to try them next time! Or, optimistically, I will never need these brilliant ideas ever again because I am never going to throw up ever again in this pregnancy.

Mine has been on again/off again for the past week. I want to say it's getting better, but it's hard to say because when I think about it, then I notice it and realize that it's not gone yet.
