Thank you so much for your kindness! Kip Ramsey burst onto the scene at 9:00 last night.
My water broke at 5:30 am and we went to the birth center right away. Hours passed with zero contractions despite being dilated to a 3, 80 % effaced, and at station 0. I tried the usual bag of tricks: stair walking, walking, lunging, breast pump, enema.Nothing. The midwife said we'd have to start pit at 5 pm and I was crushed and confused as to why things were going like this.
It took an hour for the pitocin to bring on a contraction, but then my body did the expected thing and birthed a baby in 2 hours. I'm glad I got an epidural because it took the edge off and kept me from feeling fear from those awful pit contractions. And his hand was up by his face which really made pushing more difficult and the pressure on my pelvis more intense. I tore minimally which is a blessing and my perineum isn't sore at all today. Although it wasn't what I had hoped or expected, this was my favorite of the three births because it was well controlled and I had great support. And holding this little guy is just awesome!
