Exciting to be hearing what everyone is having! Congratulations everybody...
And to think I'll still have to wait til December to find out what gender so many of you are having..
My husband and I wanted to know what the gender was, but we don't want to share it with most people. Have others done this?
Our reasons are not all that deep: 1) We don't want all the gender-specific comments and speculation, 2) and more importantly because we want gender-neutral gifts for as long as possible. I've already gotten into trouble using the "he" pronoun which brought up some inquisitive comments. Most of my life takes place in spanish these days, and a lovely thing about spanish grammar is that you don't have to use a pronoun, so it's easy to get around the issue. In english I slip up a lot!!
The times that I have found out I told no one at all but my husband. For no other reason than I wanted to make everybody wait for the surprise! And it was totally worth it Normally, when people would ask if I knew the gender I would just say "no" to keep it simple.
I was toying with the idea of not telling, but we told DS, and he has been telling. So now we are discussing doing a reveal photo shoot just for fun (I still haven't announced my pregnancy on facebook, so maybe this would be how I would do it). I was showing DS (4.5 years) some gender reveal photos last night and it was refreshing to realize that he had no concept that blue=boy and pink=girl. He decided he wanted to do handprints on my belly--I'm sure that looks like fun--but he wants to use orange for a boy. After further discussion of logistics with DH, I think we may just buy "big brother"/"little brother" shirts and have him wear one and I would hold the other over my belly. Then, there could be another photo shoot with both of them wearing their shirts after the baby is born.
We just found out that we're having a little girl! We've already had 2 baby girls join our family this year, so it appears to be the year of girls for us.
Wow. As of this exact moment the boys and girls are evenly split, with 12 each and 40% of the results each! I voted as not knowing until baby gets here!
I *think* this could be a girl based on how different this pregnancy is from my pregnancies with both of my boys, but we shall see!
