Weekly Chat 8/25 - 9/1

Holy cow, next week is september!!! Is this second trimester flying by to anyone else?

All of a sudden, I feel HUGE. I am starting to get nosy questions in public like "When are you due??" "Just one in there?" and When I say I am due in december, their eyes get HUGE!!

I am 25 weeks, measuring 3 cm ahead. I can't believe I am approaching the third trimester already! What the heck? This is my last pregnancy, SLOW DOWN already!

How are all of you?

RN, IBCLC. DS is 6, DD1 is 4, DD2 is 1! DD3 due in December!

I am 21 weeks, and feeling pretty great. I've made the decision to move forward with maybe a completely irrational idea. I am starting massage school in 3 weeks. I have felt strong and capable and ready to give it my all while still honoring my body and baby's needs. But I have sudden rushes of doubt and fear that I am crazy and making a poor choice. This is a dream that has been put off for YEARS and now my husband (and therefore our family) is facing immigration issues and possible deportation within the next year. I felt I was watching my dreams of learning massage slipping away and before I knew it I'd be living on some rural farm in Mexico washing clothes and living in poverty.... and that would be ok but I wouldn't have moved forward and starting learning and build my dream of serving others through healing touch. I found a school that was crazy enough to take me, and my midwife gave me the ok. My husband supports me in doing something for ME before the baby gets here an shit hits the fan (he might be in immigration detention before due date). BUT sometimes I think... does someone need to take me by the shoulders and tell me I am setting myself up to over do it physically, spiritually... and am putting my unborn child in danger? I will be safe and follow recommendations but will the sheer physcialness of a 5 week massage immersion increase my risk of premature birth or other complications??? Dang I was feeling good and fear kinda just pops up.

Ok I really just needed to share that. I know there are no known outcomes... I need to make a decision and see what happens. I can always start this program and commit to being in awareness about my body and if i need to quit; quit. OK thanks for letting me share mamas! Sending hugs and prayers to those who are suffering and intentions, prayers for health and peace.

I have a 22 month old, 6 year old and 14 year old. I am an RN and aspiring massage therapy student. Living in the moment, finding joy in the ordinary!

24 weeks on Wednesday. Feeling lots of strong kicks now. I agree @Chapsie that this trimester is flying by and I also am starting to feel big. I haven't gained that much weight either. My belly is just big and I'm starting to wobble bc my legs are tired lol. My varicose veins are the worst they've been through any of my pregnancies. It might have to do with all the stairs I go up and down in our current home. Not sure.

My youngest (22 months) has a fever today. He has nothing else wrong though so I'm not sure what's going on. I hate when my kids have fevers it makes me worry!!! He's sleeping now so hopefully he'll get better quick.

School starts next Tuesday so today I went to get my DD some clothes. I went thrift shopping. I found some pretty decent things for good prices. Then Wednesday we meet her teacher and hopefully get a supply list. Feeling a little stressed about money but it always works out!
I also found some good garage sales this week and got some receiving blankets and caps for 10 cents each. I think I'm all set for baby boy. Just have to put some stuff together and wash some clothes when the time is closer.

Hope everyone is good.
Thinking of you always @Galatea

Doing ok physically here! Our only vehicle started leaking tranny fluid yesterday though, so we're a little stressed about that... Thankfully the only place I needed to go this week, was the chiropractor today and my MIL was great about driving us there! We've already sunk several grand into this thing though, so now we are debating whether it's worth it to fix the tranny (if it needs a new one that's a big chunk of money!) or if we should go ahead and look for another vehicle... It's stressful.

Other than that, things are going well here! Baby is kicking like crazy lately!

Am I the only one who needs a vacation after grocery shopping with the kids?! Ugh, it's like running a marathon!

Thinking of and praying for @Galatea !

Wow, @takeiteasy303 , that is a lot to be worried about! I'm so sorry! I will keep you in my thoughts, hopefully everything will work out alright. I think it's wonderful (and impressive) that you are still moving forward with your dream. I don't think it sounds crazy at all... I actually think it sounds like that's what you're SUPPOSED to be doing. It sounds like the universe is on your side, helping you make it happen. I'm impressed you found a school that you can get licensed so quickly (before the baby comes)! That's phenomenal!
My best friend who gave birth to her first baby last october is a massage therapist, and she worked her butt off throughout her entire pregnancy and had NO complications and a very easy birth, so don't worry your head off about that. Massage is a very natural art so I don't think you'll do any harm to yourself or your baby. Just listen to your body and don't overdo it. That includes worrying though-- DON'T OVERDO THE WORRYING. I do that. It's a bad habit, it just makes me more tired and unable to cope. Like you said: if you NEED to quit, quit. You'll know. But i think you're incredible for giving it your best shot!!!! Just have faith that everything will work out. You can deal with problems IF and when you run into them.

I also cannot believe how quickly this is going by, @Chapsie ! Yikes!

We still need to find a rental house to move into. I know I'm months away from birth but ahhckckdgggg it is frustrating me so badly that I do not have my own space. I'm sure within a few weeks we will be moved into a house but I am going crazy waiting for that to happen.
I've been walking in-law's dog every day, for longer each day. And doing squats and planks. I don't have a car right now so I'm unable to run any errands or go to visit friends, so I'm going stir-crazy since I can't be nesting either. Exercising helps.

In case you're curious about my status: I'm Kate, I spend every miraculous day with my darling soul mate JB and we are expecting our first baby (boy!) ...

Haha no! My oldest acts more crazy than the almost two year old too so I can't wait until I can shop again while she's at school.

Just a quick check-in. Classes started yesterday, so we're already in the full swing of craziness. It's making the time go by super quickly and it's really hard to believe that when this semester ends I'll also have a new baby! @Chapsie , I totally agree with how fast this pregnancy is flying by.
@takeiteasy303 , I think that sounds like a wonderful plan and I wouldn't worry about the baby at all. I was doing pretty serious weightlifting throughout my last pregnancy and my daughter came out strong and healthy. The evidence all supports exercise and strength training during pregnancy (assuming no other risks).

I've been feeling SO MUCH better now that I've started exercising again. My RL pain and general heaviness just sort of dissipated and I have so much more energy. My goal is three spinning workouts per week with weights after and then walks, yoga, and other "active rest" the rest of the days. I really need to keep this momentum up to have energy for the coming semester.

Beautiful baby girl born 8/13/2012. Little star baby lost at 10 weeks pregnant, 12/18/2013. Currently due 12/13/2014 with a rainbow.

I am feeling much like you other mommas! I can't believe the time is flying by so quickly. . .102 days left until I am due! I am trying to stay active by walking and stretching, although with sacral pain and a compressed nerve in my foot I have slowed down significantly. My oldest starts full day kindergarten next week which seems ridiculous to me. I am not ready for her to go, but she is more than ready. She will do amazing! For me that means the start of me going back to working full time. I was hoping that going back to full time would be in a different position, but at the moment the extra money will be welcome even if I don't enjoy my job.

With each trial and hardship I read about on this board I am always reminded how strong and capable we are. During my end of the season banquet for Mom's on the Run the guest speaker talked about how we personally are the only ones who can disqualify ourselves. Our doubt, worry, and insecurities are the only things holding us back and we have to move past that. As someone with a ton of self doubt and anxiety it struck a cord with me. We are strong moms who can do it all! Looking forward to reading everyone elses updates.

Gretchen , Mom to DD (7/09) DS (7/11) Expecting #3 12-14

Hi ladies. My boy was sick all night. Then I fell last night in my kitchen flat in my butt but really hard. Today I feel Crampy but no bleeding and baby's moving. My son seems much better. Just please pray for both my little boys.

I hope you both feel completely better soon! Get lots of rest! I also fell recently on a wet grassy hill while carrying way to many bags. I was right next to a hornet's nest too! Thankfully, my 14 year old daughter got me away from it very fast. My whole body ached the next day. It was not a fun experience!

Hi Ya'll. Wanted to update about my massage school adventure. After following up further I realized the school was not prepared to adapt their teaching structure for a pregnant student in a safe way. They wanted me to be massaged prone with a cushioning system and didn't seem open to me bringing up that prone massage is not recommended by most camps (midwives, prenatal massage therapist etc) I spent so much time figuring out if I was physically/ emotionally strong enough to GIVE massage that I overlooked alll of the details of receiving massage from other inexperienced students using a cushioning system I don't believe is safe. Well that changed things. SOOOOO I am holding off for now... a friend says sometimes a dream deferred makes it even sweeter... I'm going with that for now. I was so geared up to be a student that I've decided to move forward on studying other areas/skills that interest me before this babe comes. Looking into postpartum yoga, yoga nidra, restorative yoga, breastfeeding support, post partum doula training.... WE'll see where this dang path called life takes me!

Yes, time is flying by! I can't believe I'm 26 weeks...

Feeling pretty good, but not sleeping the best. I feel big, and my little guy is always wanting me to play with him on the floor, and its getting so hard to get up from!

Slowly getting my guy use to preschool, few hours at a time. It was weird having 2 hours alone at home today, I cleaned and did laundry! Tomorrow I will do something for myself

@takeiteasy303 - I'm with you on trying to figure something out. I was all set up to study to be a Doula before I got pregnant, and now am trying to figure out if it would really work out well now (being pregnant/childcare/living in a rural area etc), as there is a class I can take next month... I'm thinking about just doing the postpartum Doula training, since living in such a rural place and soon having 2 little ones will be hard to be on call for births, even though that is what I want to eventually do. That along with lactation specialist is the direction I'm trying to go. My all time dream someday is taking the knowledge I can learn here to other places like India, and sharing it there...

I just love being a mama to my son born 9/22/2011 and expecting baby early December 2014 joy.gif

I get those same questions and surprised look when I tell people I'm due in December. I only recently really started showing, which is exactly how it was with DS. I didn't pop out until 6 months. Besides, I already had a little extra cushioning so I'm surprised. Oh well!

Almost 24 weeks here and feeling ok. The heaviness has set in but I'm alright for the most part. I've been sleeping wonderfully since last weekend. DH bought me a Snoggle pillow and I kid you not, it changed my life. No more restless nights. Now I can sleep for 6+ hours straight with one bathroom trip instead of 3.

Last night I was oddly restless starting at 3:30. I don't know if it was because I was hot or what but I ended up sleeping DS's bed since he was in our bed and couldn't go to sleep for almost 30 minutes. When I woke up, I had the worst tummy achy, which I thought was gas since I'm so gassy these days. Turns out, I needed to "use the bathroom" if you catch my drift I swear I felt like I lost 10 pounds after that (sorry, TMI) but I feel so much better and lighter.

I'm still craving watermelon like a mad woman and I have a doctor's appointment today. I suspect they will go ahead and schedule me for glucose testing in the next few weeks. I can't believe we're practically in September. Before we know it will be talking about final preparations for our babies and going into labor.

My replies to any posts will be minimal till the 4th. That's the earliest they can set up cable, internet and phone at the new house, and mobile has been working 50/50 since the update.

I can't believe how close third trimester is for me. And there's talks of possible early delivery for me and everything else. It's great and exciting, and obviously a little scary. We know we won't be having a Connor scenario again. I have such an amazing team if doctors watching out for Maddy, and Connor always tells me in my dreams that she's going to arrive and be a happy and healthy baby. Her new room is looking great so far. When it's done, I'll post pictures. And the baby shower is less then a month away. My little sis is going to do a pregnancy photo shoot for us for free, which is awesome. We are taking them where she did our engagement photo shoot. Lots of good things to looking forward to.

I'll try my best to keep popping in.

We had the follow up to my anatomy scan today at 25 weeks. They ruled out any partial previa, which they were concerned about last time and the bean is healthy and kicking. I'm measuring 28 weeks already (who else was measuring ahead?), but the baby seems normal sized via ultrasound (1 lb, 13 oz), so they're not worried. Hopefully that will be my last ultrasound until a quick position check at triage once I'm in labor. Yay! Baby is and has been firmly transverse for the last four weeks, so maybe that explains the larger than normal measurements? I don't know.

Anyway, we got some great pics from the ultrasound and that plus some wonderful new sibling stories from members of my old DDC have gotten me super super excited about welcoming this bean in December. After all the stress of the miscarriage, TTC, losing two house deals and moving in with my parents, and everything else, I finally feel like I've come to a wonderful place in this pregnancy. Very little stress and a lot of optimism and excitement. It's too bad it took 25 weeks to get here, but I'm so glad I'm here.

Beautiful baby girl born 8/13/2012. Little star baby lost at 10 weeks pregnant, 12/18/2013. Currently due 12/13/2014 with a rainbow.

I'm was measuring 12 days ahead at my ultrasound. However like I've said my two other children were 8 and 9.5lbs so that's prolly why. Also I don't totally trust the weight they give you from ultrasounds. They told my DS was 8 lbs and he was my 9.5lber.

hello ladies, I just wanted to check in real quick. I've had a weird few weeks. A rat came up out of our toilet, I had an impromptu vacation to the Russian River with friends, we've had two earthquakes that have left me 'shaken', I'm adjusting to higher levels of thyroid meds that make feel kinda yucky for a few days, and I have been trying to keep up with homeschooling and the house in general. I have only been on here to keep tabs of @Galatea , and make sure all of you are doing well, and I haven't taken proper time to post on anything. I even missed the opportunity to post on my own spotlight thread! I miss connecting with you all, miss feeling normal. I'll be around and back soon I'm sure.

much love.

oh, and PS
does everyone else have a different mobile interface now? I think I'll like it better once I get the hang of it.

thanks for stopping in, maranapanda! You can always post on your spotlight feed when you are ready and I'll ask you new questions.

My fundal height was measuring 3 cms ahead, LilyTiger (from 24 to 27 cm 2 weeks ago), but my 19 week anatomy scan showed the baby to be normal sized, even petite. So maybe it is just that this is my fourth baby and I don't have the ab strength to hold my uterus in? Haha. I made the midwife measure twice and she totally wasn't concerned at all. It could be positioning... hopefully not too much fluid or anything (I had polyhydramnios in a previous pregnancy).

RN, IBCLC. DS is 6, DD1 is 4, DD2 is 1! DD3 due in December!

Had my monthly check up yesterday and all is well. I've gained a total of - wait for it - 5 pounds to date with this pregnancy. My midwife says this is good since I had a little extra cushioning to start. She doesn't anticipate me gaining much more beyond that but I tell you, I feel like I've gained about 20 pounds. Baby's heartrate was good and all tests are normal. I do my glucose testing when I go back at the end of the month. This is the one-hour, no-fasting test. Other than that, I'm feeling good and feeling great these days. We also discussed my delivery plan I reiterated my fears about the VBAC but she said we will discuss it a bit more in-depth further along and that they support whatever decision I make.

I'm sleeping much better at night thanks to my wonderful Snoggle pillow DH got me last week. Goodbye frequent sleepness nights.

We have a long holiday weekend so we will be spend it attending Dragon Con (NERD ALERT!) and working on more baby stuff. We still need to decide on a paint color and install a new ceiling fan.

@naturally Mo, I'm hoping I'm in the same boat as you with a low weight gain at my appt next week, (even though I have a huge belly), I really hope my pre-pregnancy weight has shifted around, lol.
I'm finding myself feeling for baby parts during the day when I get kicks, I for one LOVE the alien sensation of a baby moving in my belly
You all are making me nervous with all this talk about time flying by..... I need time to stand still for a little while so my dh can finish renovating our house! It is still in a very rough construction stage on the inside, although he has made great strides on the exterior (it now looks great from the street!) but I need a master bedroom to birth in and a kitchen, laundry room and a family room, etc etc... I'm so proud of my dh that I'm going to post before and after pics of our house He's turning a 3 bedroom rancher into a 5 bedroom two story. what do you think?

Dragon Con! One of my favorite authors, Michelle Hodkins will be there. Have fun and tell me all about it!

I felt I was watching my dreams of learning massage slipping away and before I knew it I'd be living on some rural farm in Mexico washing clothes and living in poverty. <snip> My husband supports me in doing something for ME before the baby gets here an shit hits the fan (he might be in immigration detention before due date).

Ok I really just needed to share that. I know there are no known outcomes. <snip> Sending hugs and prayers to those who are suffering and intentions, prayers for health and peace.
Whoa. That's really big. Is there any way to keep him from being taken into detention so you can count on him being here for your birth? Does he need an employer that will vouch for him? Would you and the children be deported too, or forced to pay your own travel fees to wherever he is? I obviously don't know that much about he immigration process and how it works, but I hope for you that there is a way that God will work in your lives to keep you together, for the birth of your child and immediate postpartum!! I am very worried about having to move at the end of this month, not knowing where we will land, but that is even worse, to have a reason to fear that your husband will disappear.

RE the massage- I declined to continue care with my chiro during my pregnancy in 2010 for similar reasons- he had a cushion instead of a table with a cut-away, and I didn't feel confident that teeny little cushion was gonna work for me, since I tend to pop out huge at the end. It's disappointing, but it leaves you more time to focus on this pregnancy and your family. Hey you have a house full of people to practice massage on! Do you have a library card? A couple guys I went to high school with checked out anatomy books from the library to study muscle groups in the body, and books on massage, then started giving free massages in the lobby- ah heaven! (Performing arts high school, they gave us a lot of leeway to hang out between classes, like "Fame" but in Alabama instead of NYC) And there are a lot of free resources online too. Just because you aren't in an official school doesn't mean you have to give up your dream for now. You need something positive to distract you from unsolvable problems.

Official first ultrasound of the first trimester today! I've spent all weekend with Braxton hicks contractions. Some are really awful, others laugh worthy. And for a moment I even thought AF was coming. So addressing that all today. Other than that, settling into the new house and aiming to finish the nursery by the end of the month. Once painting is done, everything else will happen quickly. And the shower is the 20th. I'm excited and scared for it at the same time. Family that we invited not to offend is actually showing. So here's hoping that they don't act like they did at our wedding. (Judgemental, the better than other comments, etc etc)
