I'm taking my supplements. It a powder you mix with juice or water and I actually feel a difference when I'm on it. I take it when I'm not pregnant as well. I didn't during my first pregnancy because the prenatals made me feel like crap the few times I could keep them down.
I don't see a problem with light drinking while prego. But it hits me funny...I can drink 1 beer and feel like I just downed a six pack. Or one glass of wine would knock me out, so I don't drink the real stuff right now.
I had been craving beer like crazy tho, so I got some O'duals (or how ever you spell it) and there is a brand of alcohol removed wine I buy sometimes. I think it's called Fre.
I thought of another: Am I the only one not exercising?
I run after the kids a lot and feel like I'm up doing chores all.the.time but since we got our first foster daughter, and now our second, I don't have enough ways to take kids for a walk. I used to wear my son and push my DD in a stroller but I don't have a double stroller and it's been way to hot to wear and talk a walk with a baby bump.
Depends on what you mean "exercise"--I don't "work out" at a gym or anything like that. I take casual walks with the fam, mow the lawn once a week (which is a real hard work out for me as I have a big lawn) and maybe take a bike ride every now and then. I don't know how you can manage to get some movement in with all those kids, but it does feel great to loosen up all the tight spots and joints and things.
I don't know if I have any concerns over what I am or am not doing...
oh , wait, I've got one. Am I the only one who...drinks coffee regularly? I was drinking a cup of half caff every morning but have recently cut down to only on the weekends. I actually was feeling a bit nervous about harming my baby's brain or something in a subtle way.
I'm not a habitual coffee drinker. I rarely have a cup at home, but if I'm at another's house and they offer coffee I gladly take a cup. I also will grab a cup as a treat on the go one or two times a week.
I really don't worry about much during pregnancy. You can drive yourself crazy with all the "do this, don't do that" things that are out there.
My SIL drank coffee her whole pregnancy, although her OB made her cut back. I think she went from 4-5 cups every day, down to 1 or 2. I love it, but couldn't stand the smell until later with my first. I'm sure I'll indulge in some as soon as fall hits, I love all the seasonal flavors.
My mother also drank black tea, and pop while pregnant with all 5 of hers.
I ate more fish then my OB would have been happy about. She said once a week. But I was craving it. So I ate about twice as much until I got past those cravings. I read Drs in other country's recommend something like 18oz a week, as aposed to 1 tuna sandwich from the OB I had... If your going to set limits or tell me no you'd better have a good reason I thought.
This is my third pregnancy. With my first, I was so paranoid and did everything by the book. My second, I drank coffee. This time, anything goes! Tomorrow is my birthday and I totally plan on having sushi and a drink.
I recently got a book called Expecting Better. It is touted as the Freakonomics of pregnancy. It gives stats for the actual risks during pregnancy. During the second and third trimester, it is safe to have one drink A DAY! I was shocked by that. I wish my belly would permit me to drink much. I tried a beer the other night and I got about a third of it down. I was disappointed, lol.
I have my supplements on my night stand and I am pretty good at taking them nightly. This is the first pregnancy I have taken them regularly. I drink at least a cup of coffee and a couple glasses of tea each day. Again, if my stomach would tolerate more, I would drink a ton more coffee. If I recall correctly, the book says up to 4 cups per day is totally safe.
I'm still trying to exercise more, so, sorta on that one.
Starting to drink coffee more frequently, more than the twice a week I was doing.
I've had a half glass of wine, a sip or 2 of whiskey a few times. It's not on my DO NOT list, but def very moderated. A drink a day? I'll need to look into that. Right before I got pregnant we bought a large bottle of fancy beer & never got to open it.
I've never smoked anyway.
I had sushi last week when I was somewhere I felt ok with (Seattle, not Vegas).
Blue cheese, yes, still not eating lunch mean though.
Oh! Supplements. I'm finally getting back into it & take them more often than not.
Ha! I love reding thru these posts.. this is my third preg and I'm drinking one cup of 12oz coffee a day about 4 days a week. I started out just on weekends but Fridays and Mondays are sometimes considered the weekends in my house.
I am eating soft cheese --- because I love spreadable cheese and yummy crackers.
I am eating turkey sandwiches. I am being careful with the whole listeria thing, but for lunches a wrap with turkey and lettuce is perfect for me. Oh, and once that big listeria outbreak in the fruit happened earlier in the summer, I was like -- whatever. I wash my fruit and smell everything before I ingest it. trusting my gut instinct has worked so far.
I have my first glass of white wine at the movies this week and it was delish. I'm hesitant to have a whole bottle in my fridge though. I don't think it will keep very well for 4 weeks and I'd hate to waste the $.
I'm not excise ring as I should.. when my five year old starts school next week, I'll get the stroller out and will start walking with my 2 year old again. Also, I may enroll her in a 2x a week swim class at the end of Sept. I love being in the water as I get bigger.
I would love to be drinking about three times a week. I usually only drink one drink at a time anyway. I text my midwife about alcohol recently to get her take. She said a glass of beer or wine every once in a while is okay. Does that mean do hard liquor at all? I've been taking sips of margaritas 1-2 times a week. They are my weakness!
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one drinking pop/soda/cokes too. I have a Dr. Pepper almost every day.
Am I the only one eating lots of sweet stuff? I usually do regularly so I continue right on doing that during pregnancy too. I like something like waffles or pancakes with syrup, of course!, for breakfast then a sweet snack in the afternoon and before bed.
I've got a sweet tooth that I don't normally have. Did the same thing late in pregnancy with DD. Mostly ice cream. Or cake. I could eat a piece of cake every day if I had it.... I'll be keeping an eye on the sweets after this baby gets here, cuz DD ended up with thrush and yeast rash. I kinda went crazy on soda and candy after I had her tho.
The OB I had with DD actually told me to pig out on ice cream and other junk food because she didn't think I was getting big enough!
Oops. Raiding the basket at work. Other days I want nothing but fruit or veggies. In fact, earlier this week I brought home burgers for dinner (my weakness) & then didn't touch mine. A couple hours later I ate half a melon! I guess that still counts as sweets?
