We're currently on TTC hiatus for 2 months so that I can work on my health. I'd like to get DH started on a multi of his own, but don't have a clue what I should be looking for in a multi for him.

What should I be looking for, or what are some good brands for him to use while TTC?

Cristeen, My dh really likes the Super-Antioxident vitamin from SuperNutrition. He used to get it at Whole Foods. It's very high quality and packed with lots of nutrients a reg. vitamin leaves out. Also, I would add high quality fish oil and possibly an amino acid complex with L-carnitine, arginine and taurine if sperm issues are a concern. GL!

Hi Cristeen.

We recommend Men's multivitamin from MegaFood. Their supplements are 100% whole food and contain many important minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants that are needed for healthy sperm.

Here are the nutrients specifically needed for men’s fertility health:

Zinc- Having a zinc deficiency can actually reduce testosterone levels. And for men with low testosterone zinc raised testosterone and increases fertility.

Folic acid - New research suggests that folic acid can boost sperm health. Men with low levels of folate had increased risks for sperm that contained too little or too many chromosomes. If an egg is fertilized with one of these abnormal sperm it could result in a birth defect such as downs syndrome, or an increase in miscarriage.

B12- Has been shown to increase sperm counts.

vitamin c - Vitamin C protects sperm from oxidative damage. It will help to increase the quality of sperm in smokers and rescues sperm agglutination (when they clump together).

l-carnitine - It is a necessary nutrient for sperm cells to function normally. In studies supplementing with L-carnitine helps to normalize sperm motility in men with low sperm quality.

CoQ10 - Acts as an antioxidant protecting the sperm cells from damage. Studies have shown a connection between coQ 10 levels and sperm health. COQ10 has also been shown to increase sperm motility.

While we were TTC my husband took the Target Men's Multi, and some vitamin C and vitamin E. He had really good SA results too. I don't think you have to buy something fancy to get good results. He is still taking the men's multi.
