well, I'm experimenting with Maca this cycle.

I'm not temping but relying on cf to determine where I am at (since my cervix position is all over the map!) but I'm really confused this cycle. Either I'm annovulatory or...uh...I have no idea what is going on.

Anyways, I was just taking 1 pill (500mg, I think)/day after bleeding, then slowly increasing it to 4-6 pills a day around ovulation time (based on EWCF, which has been really weird, abundant, but it's like "oh, here's some EWCF here and Oh, look, here it is again there". Not like all the time or copious amounts or anything) and now I've cut down to 1-2 pills a day and will likely taper off.

I'm totally confused about this cycle, and I'm sure maca has a great something to do with that, but I just don't know what...yet...

I had lots of EWCM. I usually have none or hardly any. But my temps have stayed low and now the cm is gone.

I have no idea what's going on. That's par for the course for me.

I don't know if it's the Maca, but I had weeks of EWCM this cycle- it's hard to use CM as a 'O' predictor in that case! GL! Your chart is looking good...comparing to Jan, you didn't get fertile fluid this early.

What kind of Maca you are taking: Non organic Maca tablet
How much Maca you take: 2 capsule
How has it changed your cycle so far? Increase libido and balance hormones
I notice that the organic maca works great. I started taking it last Feb 2009.

I o'd the other day, on cd 29, not much better than my last cycle (without maca) when I o'd on cd35.

I have a question: I know I o'd, because of ewcm, then a positive OPK test, and then an increase in temp the next morning. But since the increase in temp, my temperature has dropped again. Does that mean I didn't actually o? I read it's supposed to keep going up for 2 days and then stay up.

do you have taking charge of your fertility by toni whescheler? I think it just needs to remain above your coverline. I agre that it sounds like you Oed but if your temps dropped below coverline two days later then that tells me there is something weird going on. Could it be a luteal defect? Like totally not producing corpus luteum at all?

No, I don't have that book but I've heard of it. I looked up coverline on the internet, it seems to mean basically my highest pre-ovulation temp? Is that right?

Should I be getting this long cycle thing checked out by the doctor?

Different charting methods calculate it in different ways. Beyond 60 days I'd call the doc.

I was taking Solaray capsules, a total of 3150 mg/day. I wish I would have tried maca the first cycle I was TTC, instead of waiting for #7!!! I guess it's impossible to say for sure that the maca did the trick, but I'm sure glad I tried it!

When should you stop taking maca? - When you get a bfp? Or do you carry on through pregnancy?
Thanks!
ps - I have also read its good for milk supply? - So resume after baby is born then??

I read on many sites that Peruvian women consume Maca throughout their entire pregnancy, though I'd probably wean off of it after a BFP. Re the milk supply- ppl here on MDC say not to because it reduced milk supply, so...

yes - I have just been reading up on it and reading that its actually good to take during pregnancy...espeically for your hormone levels and since progesterone is my 'issue' (I strongly think) - I will just continue to take it whenver I do get that bfp! hehe
Thanks

I posted a bit ago but didn't get my answer so here goes again. I have been taking 2100mg of Maca and 1600mg of vitex for a few weeks now. i am nursing my 10mo old and am not cycling yet but I am hoping that when I do the Maca and Vitex will help my body balance faster and better. I have had cysts on my ovaries and a short luteal phase in the past and had to supplement with progesterone with both my pregnancies. Has anyone else taken Maca and vitex before cycling? and will it help my body balance faster when I do start cycling?

I remember your post but had no clue so I didn't respond. I've only tried Maca alone so I don't know how Vitex combined would work. Maybe someone will come along who knows more.

Everything i have read says Maca and Vitex are safe and I have been on them for almost 2 weeks now and have not noticed any change in my milk supply. I guess I will continue these and hope they balance enough to get my cycle back.

I have a question too: does anyone else notice irregular heartbeats while taking maca? I don't know if it's the maca or not, but it's a bit scary. I should stop for a few days and see but I want to keep going with the maca in case it helps my cycles get regular!! Dumb, I know, I should care about my heart beating irregularly enough to stop the maca for a bit!

OMG the same thing happened to me! I noticed it more if I took it at night- and it made me quite jittery too! I cut back and took it in mornings and I didn't seem to notice then.
